There have been giant wasps around for a while now , I've had them come around once . Killed 'em all by myself - run away and call us ? Really ? And the finish , with honey bees being decimated and populations declining ? Shit , my 4 colonies at end of winter is now either 8 or 9 , they can't decide . Admittedly , my colonies all stay home . Those jet-setting bees that travel to all the neat events like pollinating almonds in California then haulin' ass up the coast to the Apple-in pollination event might be a different matter . Mixing bees from all over in one location then sending everybody off to somewhere else is a great way to spread bee diseases and pests . -- Snag Yes , I'm old and crotchety - and armed . Get outta my woods ! |

The last meeting of our art festival committee was on Zoom. It worked out nicely, but there were only 8 virtually attending. I was using that conference as an agenda because many of the people in the Canadian delegation were the people pushing for a carbon tax, which I see only as yet another tax because it is not collecting for green house gas related projects. I had a special dislike for our provincial premier. It was bad enough that we were so over represented, sending 300 delegates, but she was the one who flew back and forth to Paris twice for the conference. That was unacceptable for any conference off that duration and involving international flight, but to do it twice on a conference about greenhouse gases and climate change is so hypocritical that only a Liberal could try to excuse it. |

They want equal pay, to be equally represented in management, company boards and in politics. I thought there had been some sort of unwritten law on military promotion that emphasized combat experience. |

He brought me a teddy bear. When I was in the 1st and 2nd grade he was in Vietnam. You didn't know my father, Gary. He wasn't shy about expressing his opinions. You didn't hear him railing about the "ignorant Georgia Peanut Farmer" (Jimmy Carter) who was the Commander In Chief. I did. Was that respectful? Nope. He would have saluted him, sure. He wouldn't have liked doing it. > He was a Marine Corp officer and their Commander in Chief is > top dog. That changes every 4-8 years or so but Marines > are loyal regardless who is chosen. Same as your daddy. You have no idea. He took orders from his immediate superior officers. The President didn't show up to give orders on the battlefield. You also assumed (very incorrectly) that because he was a commissioned officer he sat behind a desk. The two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and Legion of Merit medals contradict that. Would you like to see them? I could take a picture. Or I could just show you this: https://valor.militarytimes.com/hero/40764 He's even mentioned in Wikipedia articles. Sat behind a desk my ass. > If Trump walked to his grave right now, your father wouldn't > roll over in his grave (if possible), he would give a crisp > salute to him. (To your dismay) He'd give a crisp salute because that's what Marines do. He'd also be thinking "what an idiot". > This is what all Marines are trained to do and they do > it. Active, retired or even dead marines. "Semper Fi" always. "Semper Fi" has nothing to do with who is President. It means "Always Faithful" (or "Always Loyal"). Even huge commercial kitchens like Campbells doesn't throw all the ingredients into the vat at the same time and cook it all at the same temperature for the same amount of time. I think Taco Bell uses a slow cooker for reheating their previously made mystery meat chili. The only thing I found a slow cooker does well is to prepare steel cut oats, saves all that constant stirring, however there's still 15 minutes of constant stirring at the end or it'll be all congealed lumps.... but doesn't pay unless one is preparing at least a week's worth of oatmeal at once to reheat each day for breakfast... after about a year I gave my top of the line slow cooker away because we tired of oatmeal. I tried it for other dishes like soups and stews but all were failures in my opinion, especially regarding veggies, always half cooked or cooked to mush. |

Made my day! :) ;-) I had posted before about how we used to go "over the river" to Niagara Falls NY because their drinking age was 18 while ours was 21. I was getting served at 15 and was never asked for ID until my 18th birthday. Three of us went over to celebrate our mutual birthdays. Wally and I were turning 18 and we were carded. Jackie was not, and she was 15. As for responsibility..... my son managed a brew pub in Toronto. He had been transferred down to oversee the construction and get everything in order for opening. Within the first month or two of operation some of his customers were involved in a fatal accident after leaving. The cops came to the bar to investigate. He was able to show them them their bill and there was plenty of surveillance footage. Bartenders here have a special new problem. There is no smoking allowed in bars anymore, so people go outside to smoke. Marijuana is now legal for recreational use and can be smoked anywhere that you can smoke tobacco. Customers might go outside to smoke a joint. Servers cannot monitor that. They might be following all the guidelines they are required to but a joint on top of drinks can put a person way over the line. |

My mother used to use chocolate cake mixes, but only because she thought it was cheaper than making from scratch and the additional cost of the chocolate. |
