Well, it is annoying when you call a business and their customer service
department is staffed by people who's second or third language is definitely
not English.
 
David could not ask to speak to someone who speaks plain old English but
I've done it on more than one occasion. I can hear faint clicking as the
call is transferred back to the USA.

And they're also clueless about local stuff, being from the other side
of the world and all. When we called about a local cut phone line and
got to talk to a Filipino helpdesker, he said it was being worked on
as we spoke. Strange that it took another 12 days to get fixed. 12
days of no Internet!

It might help if they have a numbered take away menu. Then you don't
have to explain to them that you want the poached quail eggs with
roasted chestnut clafoutis, but can just say "number 23, please".

I do hope you called and had that charge taken off your bill for the days
you were without the internet. The few times I've been without I always
ask for however many days to be taken off.
 
Comcast is HUGE television and internet provider here in the USA. One of
my former bosses was having trouble getting online at her house one night.
She called customer service and got a representative in India. His suggestion
was to step outside and see if the lights were on in her 'village.' We still
laugh about that one as her 'village' has about 85,000 inhabitants.

The recipes I've seen using rum almost always specify dark rum.

Rum balls are quite tasty until some twerp decides the amount called for in
the recipe should be tripled or quadrupled. Then they become something akin
to eating gasoline balls. Just don't breathe near any open flames such as
candles.

They explained how it would work. You were to get that notice two
weeks after your deposit or check to make sure you got it. And if
you hadn't received it by the time of that letter two weeks later,
to let them know.
 
Didn't the letter say, "you should have received it by now"?

I bought a new rechargeable NiMH battery for a Bissel cordless vacuum.
It's charging and I will leave it to charge 12-15 hours. I read online
that the first 3-5 times I should let it discharge completely to build
the battery up.
 
My question is should I recharge it 12-15 hours each time I run the
battery down? If not, how many hours should I recharge it those first
3-5 times? Sorry, but this bit of information was not on the site I was
reading.

My stimulus check was deposited directly into my savings account just as
my federal income tax refund is; so I didn't actually see a 'check.' But
