I could believe that Man created God (to control the masses), rather than God created Man. So the very few educated people invented God and all the rules to living. Old Testament you were to told to be good or burn in hell. A very evil God., imo. He even required sacrifices. He was a mean and vengeful God. That wasn't working so well, so they invented Jesus and the New Testament. Be good and live for eternity in bliss. In my opinion, if God is so perfect, HE sure did screw up at first when he created everything...even the defective man and woman. It wasn't working so he came up with Plan B. He came up with Jesus, that told of goodness and reward vs evil and eternal condemnation. Jesus: Dad, you screwed up. Let me go to earth and fix this for you. God: Oh all right, son. Go give it a try. But WHY did Jesus have to be tortured and die on the cross for our sins? To save mankind? Get out of here. Makes no sense to me. |

If you axe me. Everyone should regularly exercise all of the muscles to keep them strong and in tone. Not necessarily make them bigger. To keep muscles strong only, do many low weight repetitions. To build bulk, do a few repetitions with very heavy weights. Doctor once told me that the reason so many people have muscular back problems is....you're always bending over daily so that keeps your back muscles in good shape. But not many people exercise their stomach muscles. That imbalance between front and back can cause the problem. Serious runners develop very strong muscles on the back of their legs. Not larger, just very strong. To keep your leg muscles in balance, you counter exercise by riding a bicycle at least once or twice a week. |

Thinking about it, "Beef au jus" sounds exactly like my crappy pot roast meals. Just meat with juices. If I ever make one myself, I would reduce that water until it thickens and concentrates flavor. Maybe even add a little cornstarch at the end. Or maybe a bit of flour before cooking. When I make beef stew, I always use some flour at the beginning and the liquid always turns out slightly thick and not just flavored water. Same ingredients only meat is cut bite size and seared and vegetables also cut bit size. |

I have a small can of beef consommé. I've intended to use it for a "beef and broccoli" dish. Seems to me that it might be much more flavorful than plain boxed beef broth or stock and perhaps a bit better than water with beef bouillon. I love that dish but haven't made it yet. It will definitely be thickened with cornstarch then served over white rice. |

Just meat with juices. Ideally, the juices are enhanced: <https://www.thespruceeats.com/what-does-au-jus-mean-995569> A properly dry roasted piece of beef (not pot roast) yields a concentrated fond, which can be used as the basis for a good jus. Juices from a wet cooking method like pot roast would be reduced. I'm starting to think that your culinary skills have not benefited from having only yourself to please. My pot roast was nothing to write home about until I started trying to make it really good for my husband. Cindy Hamilton |
