Sorry, but not I'm not going to go to a grocery store, while traveling, buy a loaf of bread, meat, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo/mustard, and then fruit and fix my lunch. I'll be stopping at a restaurant or subway shop if I'm craving a sandwich. > The small Tops Market in town here has a nice six table > dining area near their deli and there's a large outdoor patio with > tables and chairs. And the market in town isn't noisy, it's rather quiet and they do have low level muzac playing. If you think any fast food is delicious then you are definately afflicted with chronic TIAD. Fast food joints schtink so bad only those with zero personel hygiene can tolerate them. Last I was in a McDs a burger cost 15¢ and the joint stank of some rug rat just pooped in its nappy. Fast food joints are the same as dining at day care centers, nasty nappys du jour at din-din. |

| Nancy2 <ellorysgirl@gmail.com>: May 19 03:13PM -0700 Jill, I know you were having fun, but a local butcher's shop or independent grocer or corner grocer might have uninjected pork. Or even a small chain like our Fareway stores are. OTOH, the Hormel injected pork doesn't bother me because the amount of pork I buy is very minimal, and I just can't get upset about it. ;-)) |

| jmcquown <j_mcquown@comcast.net>: May 19 02:09PM -0400 I bought an eggplant at the farm stand yesterday. Same time I bought a head of cauliflower. I can't decide whether or not to cube the eggplant and stir-fry it with herbs and spices to serve as a side dish... or go old school. Slice, dip in egg wash then coat in seasoned flour. (Some folks would use breadcrumbs or cornmeal for this.) Let the coated slices set on waxed paper. Then pan fry in hot neutral oil until crispy and golden brown outside and very tender inside. My mother would have used the flour coating. Or I could always make Eggplant Parm. I have all the ingredients for that, too. Decisions, decisions. :) Jill |

You could add garlic to any of those. :) I think I prefer the old school right now, too, and it will be seasoned flour rather than the more course coating. Sure, I'll add some garlic powder. I made eggplant parm last year. It was wonderful but I'm not sure I'm ready for it again. Jill |

My impression of Fareway - they're a meat market that also sells groceries. Much better meat than Hy-Vee (also cheaper grocery prices for like items). OH and every Fareway customer has a bagger take their groceries out to their car.
