Strange company you work for.  I've never had an employee ask how much
they were making after they were hired.  Congrats, if it's true.

I bet she was happy to see your smiling face and helped you
calculate your paycheck.

Keep up the good work. I'm so proud of you.

Sounds like a fair wage you can live comfortably on. . Hope it works
out long term.

I don't understand why he didn't ask how much they'd be paying him in
the first place.

If it's a set wage, you already have a rough idea and you want the job
regardless of whether it pays a bit more or a bit less than your rough
idea...

I told them I expected "nursing scale". They knew how much they'd pay, and I figured it was better than I was making before!

There is a LOT you don't know about Alex! A LOT!!

She didn't say she was planning to buy any.

This is a weekly pointer to the rec.food.cooking FAQ and conversion
file. If you do not want to see it every week, you should put the
title, which will not change, into your killfile.

The rec.food.cooking FAQ and conversion file is posted monthly to
rec.food.cooking, rec.food.recipes, rec.answers and news.answers. It is
also available as an easy-to-navigate frames version at

There is both a link to a no-frames version and a built-in no-frames
content for older or text-only browsers.

The rec.food.cooking FAQ and conversion file has two parts. The first
part covers conversion and equivalence. Tables are given for conversion
of oven temperatures, food names, weights and measures. Some useful
substitutions for unavailable ingredients are suggested.

The second part is more descriptive. It outlines some of the commonly
discussed topics of rec.food.cooking and explains a number of food
terms. It also lists other food-related newsgroups and mailing lists,
as well as food-related FAQs, recipe archives and other food/cooking
sites.

I'm not interesting in making bread, either. BTDT. Besides, all the
home bakers are complaining about not being able to find flour. At
least I know the bakery has some. I stash it in the freezer and use a
few slices at a time. Lasts for quite a long time.

Easy! My taxes are not too bad!

And I'm in the one field (healthcare) relatively unaffected by this whole Covid 19 thing!! In fact, I GOT this job in the whole "stay at home" BS because people ALWAYS need Healthcare!  :-)

Blueberry and Bran were discontinued...not sure when. You can still get the corn muffin ones though. Used to love the blueberry ones as a kid. I wish they would bring them back.

Maybe you should catch a ride on the wayback machine and find things
that were available in 1995...

I baked a pan of those Mary B brand frozen Southern style buttermilk
biscuits. Thought I'd post a pic:

You could install new tile that looks the same and keep $90K for your
retirement:

And the Vietnamese simply let the fish sit a lot longer and skip
the broiling to make fish sauce.

Cooked under pressure.

A few weeks ago I made banana ice cream. It was good but thought it
could be better. I saw that Haagen Daz makes one like mentioned above
so I though I'd give it a try.

On a small tray, I put little blobs of Skippy PB and put it in the
freezer. It froze but not so hard that you could not bit it.

For the chocolate chips I cut up a Hershey bar into small pieces. Solid
enough so no reason to freeze.

For the ice cream, same recipe of a pureed ripe banana, pint of heavy
cream, cup of milk, 3/4 cup sugar, vanilla. After churning the mix I
tossed in the other stuff, mixed and let it freeze. Turned out very well.

The larger chunks of chocolate were a bit har so next time I'll be sure
they are small and uniforms.

There were five of us for dinner last night and everyone enjoyed it.
Enough to have it again for my snack tonight.

Try Bananas Foster ice cream! That is the Banana ice cream of choice
when I make it.

It sounds rather yummy and I'm surprised there was any left!

I've made ice cream and I've used heavy cream and a can of Borden's sweetened
condensed milk for the base. Beat the heavy cream first then add the Bordens.

This is the perspective of a character in a novel. One that is not
particularly diplomatic himself.
