No. There are people just like Gary has described. There are also people living on welfare and living in public housing who are making a lot of money in the illegal drug business. They have money for drugs, and parties, bling and fancy cars, but living in subsidized housing. They have more money that a lot of the people who are paying the taxes to support that housing, and for the other family members on welfare. Don't go flying off the handle thinking I am saying they are all doing it, but there are some. There was a stink in Toronto recently when the city started evicting families from public housing because someone in the family was involved in drug gangs. |

Bills are often dealt with in omnibus packages and a well designed loophole can slip through without anyone noticing. |

I stopped buying coffee from restaurants many years ago, it's all weak and way over priced. The one coffee I'll buy is Manhattan Special but not many places sell it. I prefer to brew my own. For our morning coffee I'll brew a full pot in our Mr. Coffee... sometimes I'll use my Italian espresso maker with Bustello. I don't blame Starbucks for taking advantage though, I blame the laws that have the loopholes. Fix them. I never cheated on my taxes but certainly took every possible deduction and expect a business would. I also have money invested in stocks so if the companies do well, I do well. I just expect them to follow the laws. Next up: Low wages. We don't have to accept them. |

Where did I say that? Poor people are benefiting from the wealthier people. Their kids are sitting next to the better to do kids and get the same education opportunity. If you have health issues, physical or mental, you may not be able to earn a decent living so we help. If you don't earn a good living because you don't want to get your ass out of bed, you are on your own. Fact is, wealthier people pay more taxes and the poor people get the same benefit. Not a question of it being good or bad, it just is. No matter your income or tax payments, everyone gets to sit of the same park bench paid for with tax money. |

The top four states also have some of the largest personal incomes. Where to the billionaire hedge fund managers live and make their fortune? They make more money and pay more taxes than needed to support their states. Thanks for sending it here. I certainly sent a lot of it living in CT so I'm just getting some of the benefits of 40 years of CT tax money. Sort of kissing my own ass. Feels good. |

Schools in areas where parents don't have the wherewithal (time, money, inclination) to insist on good education don't provide a good education. Sure, poor kids in Ann Arbor have the same educational opportunity as engineers' kids, but that's not the case in Detroit. Yes, it's to some extent the parents' fault. But the burden falls on the kids anyway. Cindy Hamilton |

You and your army fellows were all on the same footing, tenants paying rent; none of you had any capital interest in the property. That's different from Kuthe and his housemates. He owns the property, they don't. They pay rent, he doesn't. They can't throw him out; he can throw them out. If the roof leaks, tenants will moan to the LL but he alone is responsible for the repair and the cost. Janet UK |
