40 miles is like an hour away. My mom didn't drive either, my father
did all the driving. However many times I would drive to visit. Would
have but never had to drive my parents for medical appointments. In
Brooklyn everything is fairly close by and in those days doctors did
house calls... the doctor we used (Dr. Scoppa) lived around the
corner. Dr. Scoppa treated me through all the chilhood diseases;
Measels, German Measels, Mumps, Chicken Pox, even tonsilitis and
appendicitis. Doctors had MD plates so they double parked and no cop
would dare hassle them. At that time a doctor visit cost $4, another
dollar for a shot. Back then the old time MDs were'nt looking to rip
folks off. Medical insurance wasn't invented yet... folks paid as
they could. Even now here many people can't afford to pay the full
amount when service is rendered, farm country folks pay as they can,
$5-$10 a week is sufficient.

No. You are the dumbbell because you are the one who said that if they
did not live 3 or 4 thousand miles away they would have done it, not to
mention that you grossly overestimated the distance.

It was not just the ride. It would have involved caring for her for a
few hours. I had to get her home and then get over to the pharmacy do
get her 4 or 5 different eye drop prescription and get her started on
the eye drop schedule, and some of them were hourly.

Never mind the fact that my wife's condition was much more serious and
time sensitive. Think about Sheldon's excellent advice about hanging
around with an strange old lady who might start making strange
accusations. Look at the bizarre accusations Lucretia has made about me,
like not caring about anyone but myself, never having been involved with
any charity etc. Her bizarre rants are pretty good reinforcement for
the reasons not to get involved with a strange old lady.

Oh, but she drove some guy home from the grocery store so that proves

Yeah.... she said she did. Didn't she also claim to know a bunch of guys
in their 80s who played in a geriatric soccer league?

You're incorrect again, they are now in their 60s - oddly enough I met
one of them again the other day at Best Buy, hadn't seen him since he
was an Under 18 - and yes, he is still playing. Not at the moment of
course.

It doesn't really matter does it. Your generous and selfless offer was
to call your kids and tell them to come and help this stranger. Dollars
to donuts they had something else going on at the time, and if they
didn't they would tell you they did.

Yeah, right... they. Both of them? Funny that you kept insisting on
that but never came up with a link. I found a site for the senior men's
league, but they had to allow some younger players into the over 45
league because they couldn't find enough older plays. Pull the other one.

Bullshit. Popeye would have taken her home, put some drops in, then
humped her till her eyeballs popped out.

And I know someone else who constantly sniffs that geezer's butt.

Bread's the best. Real bread. Bread that you'd drive 8 miles for.

Yes, I should again soon. I used to make all our (sourdough) bread for
years and then got lazy.

GM <gregorymorrowchicago07@gmail.com>: Jun 07 01:00PM -0700

So this Sunday is considerably less fraught then last...not watching nooze Skycams of the country being looted and blown up or worrying about friends in potential danger...plus the Friday jobs report was relatively good, very nice to see...!!!

Just made a mess of sweet 'n sour peanut noodles with chikken...brown rice noodles, chix breast chunks, assorted veg (red peppers, broccoli, water chestnuts, cukes...), this will be good hot or cold Have some Polski snausage on simmer with some beer...after that will cook a two - pound p0rk sirloin roast...on Sundaze I cook for the rest 'o the week...

Watched earlier 'The Great British Baking Show', now on is the 1953 "War of the Worlds", next up is Kim Novak in "Bell, Book and Candle"...then the 1962 "Billy Liar" with the FAB Julie Christie...she knocks me out in everything she does...may end the evening with a "Columbo" episode on the MeTV network...all comfort viewing...

Be safe and well, kiddies...!!!

;-P
