Well the Vodka doesn't mix very well and it turns the oil cloudy. I will be
testing the mix. If it improves the spray that would be great.

I cooked up a hamburger in the air fryer. It turned out pretty good. The
good thing is that there's no splattering oil all over the place. The bad
thing is that I can only cook one at a time.

Thanks! Does it really matter if the oil is cloudy??

btw I take it you don't have an air fryer oven? You could cook more
than one in there!

That looks great btw, I am sure I would enjoy that and I am not a fan
of burgers:))

It doesn't matter to me what the oil looks like. I do have some reservation about water in oil being a breeding ground for microorganisms.

It was a very good burger. I didn't shape it, but instead, just broke off a chunk of the meat as it was packaged.

Cheap Bob had unemployment insurance benefit collection down to a
science. He would work long enough to be eligible for benefits and then
get himself fired. He would then live on pogey until it ran out. Then he
would run out and get a job and hold on to it until he had enough
credits to go back on pogey. It was a cycle that went on for years.

We keep hearing from experts about how fraud is not very common, but I
know enough people who have been pulling benefit scams on unemployment,
workers compensation, welfare and other social safe nets to suspect that
it must be far more common than they will let on.

Perhaps unemployment, welfare compensation and immigration workers
should hang out at places like Lowes and Home Depot to keep an eye out
for their clients.

My understanding is that unemployment payments help pump money into the economy. My daughter's friend got 6 thousand bucks in a single unemployment payment. He and his girlfriend blew that wad right quickly. That's 6 grand moved into the local economy. That's a good thing. Not so good for him though, but who am I to judge?

That $6000 that went into his pocket to stimulate the economy came out
of the pockets of a number of other people who could have been
stimulating the economy with the money they worked for. Unemployment
benefits are supposed to help sustain someone who has lost their job. It
is a form of insurance. You pay into and you might get some back.

I only collected it once, back in the early 70s. I had always had part
time jobs and summer jobs. Students did not have to pay premiums back
then, but about mid summer one year I noticed it my pay stub showed I
had had UIC deducted. I contacted the personnel department was told of a
rule change and now every one had to pay. I contacted the UIC office to
check and to complain. I could not collect so I should not have to pay.
I was told you never know, you might get laid off.

Well, sure enough I was laid off, but it was the week before I was
heading back to school. I figured that I had been working part time
for years and had had to give up my part time job for the summer job, so
I applied. They started paying me, but a lot less than I had expected.
I thought perhaps they were basing it on my part time work.

After a about two months they cut me off. I appealed. I had to fight
them for months but they eventually paid up. What the hell. They made
me pay benefits so I should be able to collect.

Obviously, the guy was a hard worker, made a lot of dough, and paid a lot of money into the system. I have no idea what your point is.

Self Employed has some benefits but also has many downsides to be aware
of. Taxes are a big one, and healthcare cost. Gone are the paid
holidays and vacation. OTOH, if it is a mostly cash business you can
avoid lots of paperwork.

I saw a Jensen Interceptor on the street the other day. It was totally beautiful. I've always wanted one of those.

Some original Hawaiian dishes: loco moco, Spam musubi, poke. The hallmarks of Hawaiian dishes is simplicity, no herbs, and humbleness.

Back in the 60s, ham steak with a pineapple ring was the mainstay of
Berni Inn's menus in the UK.

He also used to make spaghetti squash with tomato sauce. Again, it is what it is. A vegetable dish with sauce. These dishes are just fine - if you're into vegetables.

Sometimes for a quick lunch I'll have nuked frozen cauliflower with
spaghetti sauce and provolone. It's good.

And if you're not into vegetables - you should be.

Poke isn't humble on the mainland. Sushi-grade fish is expensive.

Names have been watered down to be meaningless. Some time back a woman
at the table next to us ordered a martini. She said it "tasted funny".
It was made with gin, not vodka as she expected.

if they are old they may not sprout or they
may sprout and then die.

when you know you have good bean seeds they
will sprout faster when the soil gets warmer.

if you have trouble getting any to sprout at
all you may need to do it indoors where it is
warmer and then set them out.

well it is cheap enough as a bag of beans is
only a few $ here - and since we are a bean growing
region a lot of them may be even sort of local.

the problem i had with them though was that they
were too familiar to me and i wanted to get more
varieties more suited towards our micro-climate
and soils. each year i keep finding more to work
with so it is going well. :) and i do give a lot
of them away at the seed swap. that is also a
good way to get garden seeds and fun to meet
people.

Mint chocolate chip with mint chocolate icing.

I'm a sucker for anything mint chocolate.

Couldn't find the recipe on-line for you , but I included a photo of it from the cookbook in the album.

This morning, Mrs. Beitel said, "How thoughtful of you to fix me breakfast!" I was puzzled, since I hadn't. Then saw I had left the plate of cookies on the table at the spot where she usually sits.

And a cookie-making question: When a recipe says, "Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart," do they mean "center-to-center" (my interpretation) or "3 inches between cookies" (Mrs. B's interpretation)?
