The guy lied to the cops about what happened, saying my son had changed lanes and then turned without signaling even though he had contradicted himself about where my son had changed lanes. Then he tried to get the cop to charge my son for not producing insurance. It was my wife's car and he had trouble finding it. Cop was fed up with the guy and said my son would not even need the insurance if whiner had not been driving like an asshole. Later on the kid phones me up wanting to work out a deal so he would not have to go through his insurance. He was insured through Pafco, which will insure high risk asshole drivers... for a price. He claimed to have a friend who worked in the body shop of a local trucking company who could do it on weekends. That would have been a huge conflict of interest with me because of my job, so that was not going to happen. This guy had lied to the cops about the incident, tried to blame my son for it, tried to get him charged for not producing insurance..... and now he wants me to deliver my car back and forth on weekends while his buddy does a repair that would not have a warranty ?? Fat chance. We went through his insurance and I got a loaner car at his expense, and if he insurance rates went up then maybe he should stay off the road or at least stop driving like an idiot. |

Automobile insurance is merely legalized gambling. Your insurance company is betting that you're not going to have a major car accident and you're betting that you will. Your state is betting that you won't have the dough to pay for the cost of a major car accident and so requires that you have insurance. Your insurance company is betting that people are scumbags and will ignore the law and not acquire insurance so they require you have uninsured motorist coverage i.e., they're hedging their bets AKA, a "side/insurance bet." As it goes, driving a car is one big gamble. In a world filled with robo-cars, we won't have to have insurance because car accidents will be a thing of the primitive past. It's going to be a very beautiful thing. |

I'm going to make a guestimate that half of the drivers they stopped ended up having either never had a license or it was suspended. The reason they got stopped was for the stupidity of running a red light, running a stop sign, expired tags, cracked windshield, etc. Just stupid stuff that if I were to choose to drive if I had no license I'd be the most careful driver on the road. |

Do you blokes regularly vote for assholes 10 thousand miles away in the northern hemisphere? Blimey, how odd. Never thought of australia as a failed state with only deplorable citizens. |
