Only YOU can get away with saying that here, Steve, without much critisizm. Everyone is afraid to take you on. The rare times I want whipped cream I usually use the same generic cool whip science project too. It works well for me and doesn't dissolve so quickly. The ingredient list doesn't scare me and makes it taste good. I do have vanilla ice cream on my grocery list for tomorrow. |

YOU are the ones getting so royally FLEECED by insurance corporations who have convinced you that giving them all your MONEY! John, did you even look at your insurance policy? Even libility insurance policies offer an "uninsured motorist fee" for very few dollars extra ($6-$10) every 6 months. That would cover your accident and pay for it, less a deductible. "Uninsured motorist coverage protects you and your property after an accident when the at-fault driver does not have insurance." It covers hit and run drivers too. I had a hit and run driver smash into the back of my van once while it was parked at night. It was covered. |

It was a few years old and I paid only $1500 on a Friday. I called up immediately and only got liability insurance coverage. Later that evening I found out it had a book value of $6500. So we didn't drive it that weekend until I could add the comprehensive when the insurance company was open again. On Monday, I called and added comprehensive. On Tuesday, my daughter rear-ended a car and totaled our Volvo. sigh Because of that suspicious timing, it took a month to resolve but finally they called and said they have a check for me for $6400. 6500 minus the 100 deductible. I made a profit of $4900 in only 4 days between buying the car and it being totaled. Also insurance company (Nationwide) had a "First time forgiveness" policy so my car insurance price never went up. |

I'm pretty casual, but not when it comes to my obsessions. More relevant is that the number probably matches some kid's orthodontic bill. |

In the USA, even poor people with no insurance or money can go into a hospital emergency room. No one is refused and they even expect that they might not get paid. However, that's for the initial problem. If you require future surgeries for better repairs, then you're out of luck. An EMT told me once that if I ever have to go to an emergency room, call a (free here) ambulance and let them take you there. The ambulance people get right in for care. If you drive yourself there, you might sit and wait for hours unless it's a life threatening emergency. |

There's absolutely NOTHING YOU can do to your website that compromises THEIR servers - even if you give away all your passwords, billing data, DNA, fingernail clippings, etc.... If somebody "broke in" through your website, that's that's on THEM - not you. And you should get a refund for lost hosting services. I see that GoDaddy is hosting your nameservice ... and <clickety click> your site contents too. They need to restore from backups. This is not your fault . And you're paid up for another 5 weeks of nameservice (and probably hosting as well). In the meantime your backups are on the link I previously provided (and probably on your own PC as well) -sw |

On re-reading and doing some more checking, I don't think you were hacked at all. GoDaddy disabled the server software that served your legacy website that you've had for 11 years. Have they asked you for any money to upgrade? It's still possible that some kiddie did break into your site and fucked it just for kicks, but its not likely that GoDaddy would coincidently tell you your site is unrecoverable citing some "template" problem unless they disabled some compatibility with serving your ancient pages - and right before your renewal date. I don't do web programming, only sever software. But could some kind soul look at her source at archive.org and see what has been possibly obsoleted at GogDaddy.com? Cindy maybe? Oh Wait - I'd bet my left testicle that Cathy of http://www.recfoodcooking.org/ could host your minimal site as a SUB-URL of that domain - which would be perfect!. You might even be able to piggyback hizzhoners.com nameservice to keep your domain name cheaply. She has plenty of space and bandwidth she probably doesn't use. This is your best bet. Email her! -sw |
