I couldn't bring myself to eat Durian. I hear it tastes quite sweet but
I couldn't get past the stench. My father brought home a small crock of
limburger cheese once. I couldn't bring myself to taste it.

The smell has never bothered me. I love Durian, to me it's neither
sweet nor sour. I've found the quality can vary greatly though, and a
really good one is really something special.

I bought some to try, can't say I liked it.

Huh?

I didn't tell you how to use the old google groups. I didn't even
know there *was* a "new" google groups format (seems silly if
they're wasting their time on that again).

I simply told you to log-in. You said you never had to log in
before!!! And I told you every once in a while it will log you out
for different reasons, and that you just needed to log back in.

And 15 minutes later, there you were.

And here I thought you were going to mention something about the
scalloped potatoes you suggested <shrug>

The new format had nothing to do with it. I solved his problem by
telling him to manually log into Google. Problem solved.

He explained that the problem was that he could read groups VIA
Google Groups, but that he didn't have a "Reply/Post" button. And I
figured that only shows up when YOU'RE LOGGED IN. And I nailed the
solution,

Aren't y'all glad I provided that pro-active support call?

Quicker than a regular 1/3rd lb burger.

Speaking of which, why don't they make hot dogs triangular?

They'd fit in the buns better, they'd sear on the grill better,
they'd use less packaging and take up less room on space ships, and
watching them tumble around the hot dog rollers at 7-11 would be
infinitely more mesmerizing!

What, no one paid enough attention the first time around? We all know

I'm not clicking your stupid youtube link.

Why don't you go make some more candy? Or au gratin potatoes with
garlic? Or plant those sprouting cloves of garlic and come back in six
weeks and YELL hey, I grew some garlic!

Definition of conniption
(American English)

": a fit of rage, hysteria, or alarm
// went into conniptions
// He had a conniption when his favorite TV program was preempted by a
political speech."

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conniption

If a conniption is already a fit, does that mean a "conniption fit" is
a "fit fit"?

In a similarly sanitized PLASTIC/GARBAGE container, and into my refrigerator! By my sanitized hand, spoon guidance and gravity, on a bleach sanitized surface!

Sanitarily!

And they are MY Garlic Potatoes, but I do/will share, tomorrow! When they are properly chilled! :-)

Did you make sure to sanitise the air inside the containers too?

I can't speak to Sparkletts water delivery. Just putting out there for
general information how to get out of those endless telephone menu
loops. It doesn't matter what business you're calling. Pressing 0 a few
times usually works, as does saying "operator", "agent" or
"representative". IMHO, it gets you talking to an actual person more
quickly.

I do hope Ken gets his water delivery sorted out.

I've seen a number of people in my neighborhood rollerskating. Not on
single wheels like roller blades, but yes, skating. I used to love to
skate. Hmmmm... :)

I can tell you're really proud of your big computer and big processor. Big deal, I've had big computers with 165W processors that needed really large cooling fans - feel free to live in the past and brag about it. I use a old, anarchic, computer at work but that's something I don't talk about.

I'm not proud of that kind of stuff. I don't derive my self-worth from
the computer that I use. You do. Maybe that's a rock thing. All I can
say is: Enjoy!

You're the one doing the bragging.

What does it matter? You use what you have to use, just like I do.

>I've been reading ingredient lists for a long time, and yeah, it's nerdy, but there used to be bad stuff in food. There's really not anymore to much of an extent. The stuff I was avoiding has been largely removed, especially trans-fats. I've been here long enough that some other old timers told me that I was ridiculous, and that trans-fats weren't a big deal. They actually were, and have now been removed from almost all foods. Funny, but now I'm reassuring other folks who see long lists of ingredients on processed foods that most/all of the ingredients are quite safe. I only prefer less processed foods because they tend to be less aesthetically pleasing.

>You look at the ingredients on most ice creams, and you will find gums and mono and diglycerides, none of which are unhealthful. You look at the ingredients on a carton of Haagen-Dazs vanilla, or ALDI's Specially Selected vanilla ice cream, and there's none of that stuff. It is cheaper, from a manufacturing standpoint, to use gums and mono and diglycerides, but the product is inferior in taste and mouthfeel.

>I sense that no one here is in poverty, and while some of us--myself included--love getting bargains, we can all afford to eat well. Good cooking is about good techniques, but also about good ingredients.

Good ingredients, indeed. Which is why we should avoid prefab foods
that are science projects. It's aesthetically crap and science is
always behind. Again I say: Roundup was once considered safe by
"science".

Del Taco's cheap bean&cheese burritos are great, and Chilli Man canned chili with beans is a pretty good prepared food with the addition of some ground beef. You previously praised that Rico's cheese sauce, even back when it was chock full of trans-fats.

Actually he "outed" himself the *last time* he called you and told you
how to use Google. He doesn't work for Google. Why not get yourself a
