Of course, as a single parent, there is sometimes no recourse. I'm glad
that you were able to make it work out.

Of course, it's none of my business, but I noticed that you never
mention your step daughter. Does she ever visit?

I've stopped at a Checkers once or twice while traveling. Nothing there
was memorable other than those seasoned curly fries. Those were pretty
good; better than Arbys (although that isn't saying a lot).

Meh, I'm good on that. I've never bought it before, so why start now?
Seems like an awful waste of plastic, plus I try to avoid plastic on
food. I have a few of those reserved plastic Chinese Tupperware take
out containers if I need to store something without tinfoil (which I
always reuse) -- as long as no hot or acidic foods go in plastic.

You're going Bruce, haha. Thin is figurative, but I'm not morbidly
obese. I just checked, and the half gallon is just past it's use-by
date and half full. Oops. I suppose I won't buy it again.

They look good, but in my experience, anytime that someone shakes sauce
on fries, they get soggy instead of nice crisp in a jiffy. When I
occasionally put malt vinegar on fries, I put it on after I'm already
seated that the table, right before consumption so they don't go soft.

True. On the rare occasion that I eat out at McDonalds, it's $3 for the
small fry and McChicken bundle. Add a double cheeseburger for an extra
$2 if I'm really hungry, and I bring my own water or eat at home.

Try bundling your meals into a "meal deal" with sandwich/fries/drink to
save some money. Alternatively, they once offered a $5 deal on 2 large
sandwiches, and I think that the Fillet o Fish and Quarter pounder were
options. Get a large fry to split instead of a small and medium fry.

Pour the sauce next to the fries, not on them. Or have a little cup there, to pour the ketchup or other sauce in and dip.

Cindy, its all whining by you and Sheldon against eating at fast food places. Gimmie a break. Everyone goes there once and awhile. So what if some of us go a little more often. Now, i've wondered about Big Mac sauce. To me, t tastes like ketchup, relish and mayo mixed together. Big deal. I like the various burger specials.

Ten years ago, I had "French" fries at McDonalds. We were travelling a
bit. Six years ago, I had an ice cream at another McDonalds.

This concludes the past ten years of "Fast Food And Me, A Journey",
soon in the better bookshops.

I've heard of news reports in the past, where farmers would spend all
night lighting small fires around the trees in the orchards (of course
not too close to foliage) and tending to them to keep it warm enough so
the trees will live through bad freezes. I don't recall where I've
heard this, or if the method is still used. I think it was an old book.

She was an amazing singer. What a sad way that she ended.
