On the other hand I don't like mixing fact and fiction, especially as done by movie makers. I don't need history lessons from movie people. They present this stuff as fact without any real proof. If it's ever challenged, even 30 years down the road, those who want to believe it's true can always say, "Bullshit man, I'm telling you it really happened - I saw it in the Godfather!" Funny stuff. The Godfather was technically well done - photography, etc, and had some good parts, but to me it was basically just another whack a minute mob movie in which most people rooted for the Corleone Family because they had all the big stars. Pacino and those guys were known before the Godfather. Mobsters from other families who die quickly without fanfare. Corleone family members died slowly - like they were extra special tough to kill - as with James Caan at the Turnpike booth taking forever to die >with bullet after bullet slamming into his street tough never say die Italiano body. Hah hah >Nobody ever said that the Johnny Fontane character was based on Sinatra. OTOH, a lot of people thought that. Mario Puzo was introduced to Sinatra at party and Sinatra supposedly never looked up at from the plate of food he was eating while he expressed his displeasure to Puzo. Sinatra called him a pimp and told him that he'd beat the hell out of him if Puzo wasn't so old. Mario Puzo explained, in an interview, that a Northern Italian like Sinatra threatening a Southern Italian like Puzo is like Einstein pulling a knife on Al Capone. Uhm, Ghe Ghe Ghe. Using a combo of DOSBox and VirtualBox emulators, I can do a complete Windows 3.11 install in about a minute and a half. After a shutdown, it can be re- started in about 2 seconds. There are a few games from the era I have installed as well. Thus there is a bit of nostalgia too. I notice that JK has recently eschewed his nursing papers. Perhaps he can do some driver development for me. I still do not have MIDI playback working. |

It's taken him about a year and a half to realize what people have been telling him about that black mark he got for abandoning the child he was being paid to care for. Maybe now that he is ripping up his nursing license he will stop crowing about the credentials which have not translated to job opportunities. |

But then again, I didn't think I had a problem. I went to an ophtamologist about a fat deposit on the side of my eye and that was monitored for a couple years before the doc determined it was not growing and nothing needed to be done. However, I did have dry eye, which was likely because I had had a chilazion, a cyst in a plugged tear duct. The surgery for that left me short a tear duct. The treatment was pretty simple. He told me to use Sustane eye drops daily. I usually forget. When my eye starts to bother me I put a drop or two in. It does such a good job that I don't need it again for a few days. |

I have a fairly dark prescription sunglasses. I was out on the motorcycle with a friend a couple years ago and was wearing the sunglasses and, because of the low setting sun I had the dark helmet visor down. I was stopped at a bad intersection, coming out on a curve and a downhill to the left. I thought it was clear and started out and then realized there was a big black bus with tinted windshield coming up the hill and around the bend. I slammed on the brake and had to push myself back really fast. |
