Digest for rec.food.cooking@googlegroups.com - 25 updates in 10 topics

Nancy2 <ellorysgirl@gmail.com>: May 03 03:15PM -0700

I found it kinda silly, being set in a busy metro area. How do the producers expect to
keep up the charade? At least in the Pioneer House, the homesteads were pretty
much isolated from any urban centers, and the homesteads didn't have to depend on
masses of modern-day public to make a living, so to speak.

And the accents were difficult for me to understand at times.

Like I said, a silly unrealistic portrayal. I don't know how they expect this to accurately
portray the period and the slum-dwellers.

I guess they were just trying to give an idea of how hard keeping
body and soul together in Victorian England was. Like the presenter
said, no healthcare and welfare; you were pretty much on your own.
What I found so hard to believe was the price of shelter and they
were in essentially a dump.

Doesn't the idea of eating meats smoked in the outhouse sound yummy?

The next episode is to be set in the 1870's and from the preview
there is a bit of squabbling already.

That URL brings you to Metro subways... even you didn't figure out
that someone needs to scroll all the way to the end to find and
click on the restaurant URL... so how would all the noobies here
know...

Stop eating for a moment and see if that link takes you to the Subway

Not here; in my browser (or why ever), the link further up goes to the
restaurant-article only.

Bye, Sanne.

That's my take on it all. Can you not just enjoy an artichoke on it's
own. Need to have wine with it? I just don't get it.

I had to choose between the burners being level, or the oven racks. I
chose the oven.

My stove is perfectly level... there are leveling screws underneath
plus you can use shims

Huh... if the stove is leveled the burner grates and oven racks are
both automatically level.
Nancy2 <ellorysgirl@gmail.com>: May 03 03:09PM -0700

Janet, mine, too...I suspect the OP's floor may have settled a bit and it has made liquids
slightly off. Or the levelers weren't adjusted properly to begin with.

I didn't say he was dead. Just hope he rots in hell for the way he
treated her.

You can appreciate this sentiment, Sheldon. She had taken in three (?
memory fades) cats. kili cared for them like babies. She kept them
indoors. She managed to scrape money together if they needed vet care.
One cat named Pua had ringworm when she brought the cat in as a stray.
After kili died I was told TFM put them outside. As far as I'm
concerned he's a pig.

Any dumb asshole knows that they can simply post the URL:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subway_(restaurant)

Big Fucking DUUUUUUHHHH on your part. I don't how it's possible that
even YOU couldn't figure that out. Maybe if you spent less time
trying to make lame excuses and drooling all over yourself...

ObFood: Dinner will be 2.5lb pork loin cooked SV 139F for 6.5-7 hours,
mashed potatoes w/Roquefort cheese (Trader Joes sells Roquefort dirt
cheap), and some sort of vegetable(s).

Last night was a 4.4chuck roast cooked 32 hours @ 130.7F. Almost as
tender as fillet mignon and with much more flavor.

Think of it as a huge assed steak:

Bullshit. It takes you right to the page about Subway restaurants.
It even says that right there in the URL, duh.

Maybe if you weren't always surfing for that busty she-male porn you
wouldn't have all those viruses that fuck up your browser.
