She eventually moved over and became a waitress. With the tips, it payed better than being a grill cook. Back then, back in the '60's, my first job payed 90 cents per hour. That was the studen't minimum wage. It soon went up to $1.10.
So $2, was an OK tip.

Huh? Who is your gardener?

Hasn't got any gardening to do, instead of making demands about the salad
you're serving?

In fact, why doesn't he bring some sandwiches and just get on with the
gardening work?

Why is it so expensive?

I usually tell it's coming from India or Pakistan from all the background
noise: whoops, cheers, babies crying, laughter, traffic.

They probably also say "Argghhhh!". Like the old Bernard Mathews turkey
ads.

He can lift a gallon now, although if the gallon is full he sets it
on the counter to pour. He's basically got no rotator cuff on the
right side, and the left is badly compromised.

I don't decant milk for storage. I believe it will make the milk
spoil quicker due to airborne contaminants in the receiving container.

$1.99 for a gallon, $1.39 for a half. That's the store brand. I could
spend a lot more, but why would I want to?

Of course. That's not what I was laughing at, as you well knew.

Besides, this cheap brand has all the hormone residues they fed the cows:-)

short crust pastry perhaps? does not appear to
have sugar added, but i'm sure you could if you
wanted a sweeter result. usually the fillings are
sweet enough to me.

I've had many Windows computers
too. I've built many Windows
computers. I've had many Windows
notebooks. Most of the notebooks
were ones that I purchased used.
The last one was purchased a few
months ago.

These days, I dislike them
immensely.

The only laptop I ever had as my main computer died within a year. It
just lasted long enough for the chain where I bought it, to go broke.
Bye bye warranty. I'll stick with desktops.

I prefer desktops too. That's why I still use this old one for
Usenet. It's not much good for anything else except for several
non-internet programs and the old versions of those work just
fine too.

For now, I use laptops for the modern world. oh well.

My desktop lost it's hard drive.
It's dead in the water and I
don't want to fix it. Disk
drives are just plain unreliable.
I've got a box of drives
somewhere. I'm hoping it's the
last desktop that I'll ever own.
I got my first one in 1988 so we
have a lot of history together
- me and the desktop PC. Time
to move on.

I've always had desktops until recently. I now have a laptop which I hope is cured of it's problems.

I ate my share of vienna sausages as a kid. I know what
they're like: nasy.

And, yes, I didn't grow up in a third-world hellhole.
I grew up in Detroit.
