Keep us updated, John. Did you ever get an email from your bank
teller?

When are you going to learn to spell the word "moron"?

lol I didn't want to ask.

Interesting list. Put all together like that it should be a no
brainer to own and pay for a smart phone.

I did have a flip phone for several years but it was talk only.
That's good for emergency calls, at the least. The free
(included) long distant calls were nice.

You suspect right. All beans were originally fresh. ;)

I would assume that canned beans ARE processed immediately while
fresh. Makes no sense to me to dry them then rehydrate and cook
for canned. Certainly the evil food corporations would never do
that extra step.

Think lean proteins (chicken, fish, eggs, turkey), non-gassy veggies (bell peppers, cucumber, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and zucchini) and healthy fats (nut butters, avocado). Fermented foods that contain live active cultures may serve you some benefit if your gut microbiome is out of whack; that would include kimchi, yogurt, miso, kombucha, and fermented veggies. Don't overdo it on the fermented foods though, because if you have an overabundance that can actually cause more gas!

Such a funny article about gas. What a trivial concern. I love
funny scientific studies.

Living completely alone now in my slovenly and totally selfish
bachelorhood lately, I can just let it rip anytime and anywhere.
So nice to finally be able to do that and have no concern about
others nearby. I wouldn't even do that in bed when Mia was
sleeping under the covers. That would have been pet abuse. Not
only that but she probably would have bit me too.

I am very concerned about the ongoing greenhouse affect though.
The extreme vegetarians worry about cow farts destroying the
earth. The bigger threat though is the human fart factor. WE are
the big problem along with all the other land creatures.

Plants are more earth-friendly. They "fart" oxygen. We probably
shouldn't eat vegetables.

Pickled fish (as in escabeche) has the proteins denatured similar to
cooking, but it is not cooked. Cold smoked (which is often cured
before smoking) is the same.

The difference in taste (except for the smoke flavor) and texture
between cold smoked and raw fish is so minor, I'm forced to conclude
that for people who will eat one but not the other, the difference
is all in their heads.

You are absolutely correct. I am wrong. I always have considered both
process a cooking. I love the flavor of fresh raw fish and would most
always pick raw over pickled or smoked.

It's not nearly so awful as some here claim. The canned mushroom
soup is an ingredient for me but not an actual soup. I can make
better mushroom soup myself.
The canned stuff makes a quick gravy in a pinch, good to simmer
seared pork chops in, and a decent addition to most kinds of
casserole. I even use it in cottage pie. It does have it's uses,
just not for an add milk and make soup.

Think of it as using a spice blend rather mix many spices. Like
curry powder.

Anyway, you asked about corned beef hash. I tried that once and
never again. I don't even like corned beef. Best way to ruin good
beef, imo.

Recently I made Spam hash. Probably what you were thinking of. I
occasionally make ham hash (from leftover ham), or Spam hash, or
even just plain hash (no meat)

It's just diced potatoes, chopped onions and meat or not. Only
flavorings are S&P. You could also toss in some eggs with that
like Popeye does. It's all good.

It's not exactly unknown. Everything in it and its metabolites are
benign or healthful.

Roundup was also innocent for a long time. Anyway, this is RFC. How
much are chicken thighs where you live? Does your supermarket have
baggers?

Roundup is a complex organic chemical. Sodium tripolyphosphate is
a very simple inorganic compound, hardly more complex than table salt.

I don't know. Maybe $1.79 per pound, on average? I don't very often
buy thighs.

No. The checkstands are configured so that the cashier bags each item
immediately after it is scanned.

Oh no, not table salt! Do you know how many people are killed by table
salt every day?

I don't think so. I have no land line, and I only make or receive
a call on my cell at most once a week.

I can't see how my cell phone causes more social dysfunction than your
landline - I assume you do have a 'phone and dumping mine would be
environmentally unfriendly since there is nothing wrong with it!

I prefer raw jalapeno on a cheese sandwich. Mmmm. Maybe that's what I'll
have for lunch...

No bees or wasps are outright agressive. They will only attack
when they feel threatened. Humans that is. I have read that
wasps will attack honey bees. True? Don't know.

In my painting days. I would never kill any just to paint a
stupid house. Wasp nests were common up under the eves of houses.
Whenever one was encountered either someone went up the ladder
and threw a cup of paint thinners on the nest (killing them all
immediately) or they called me to do the painting in that spot.

I don't kill any creature unneccesarily, certainly not kill a
colony just to paint a house. We had one customer once that felt
the same way as I did. So I got the job to paint around the nest.
It was a wasp nest right in the corner. I put my ladder up right
underneath the corner. As I came up the ladder, about 50 wasps
were all looking down and watching me. I said "hi" to them then
slowly started painting.

First to the right and they all turned to the right and watched
me move slowly. Once I finished that side, I did the left side of
the nest. They all turned that way too and watched my hand. lol
it was funny. All the time I was talking to them. Yeah, I'm
weird.

After doing both sides, I had the actual corner left where the
nest was attached. I did it very slowly on each side and even
dabbed paint underneath the nest but not touching it. Again, they
all turned and watched my hand.

That was interesting and funny to me as they all 'group turned'
to watch the hand. My coworkers thought I was nuts but I knew
that they won't attack unless provoked.

Note: no humans or wasps were harmed in this story. ;)
