It's the only grocery store on this list in my area. As usual, a skewed survey. FWIW, Publix adopted a recent SC proposed law against plastic bags (as did many other local retailers). For some reason it has not officially been signed into law. But the retailers stepped up. Some stopped offering plastic bags at the checkout. I've seen signs out in front of stores urging people to bring their own bags. === Our shopkeepers no longer give them away free. They charge 5p per bag. Not a lot you might think but it has reduced consumption hugely. It is much more normal now to see shoppers carrying their own shopping bags:) |

Chipping your teeth on particles of quartz, however, is not cool. I dumped my bag of salt because I'd like to keep my teeth for a while. I was in Mexico just once and only for an afternoon. Parents decided to go watch a bullfight. I was still young, probably about 5. My only memories of that are from the home movies they took. They also bought a fake souvenir poster there that advertised the event and listed the matadors. Three matadors listed in large letters. My name was the second one listed. heh heh I still have that somewhere here. Note: Pretty sad thing to watch. I was told that the dead bulls were given to the poor for food. That's well and good but the torturing for sport is pretty messed up. |
