I just called the post office. The guy said a neighbor installed it and we
have to pay her to get the keys. Problem is, the neighbors I do know and I
do not know her or where she lives.

===

How dare they, without your permission!! Well you have three choices,
find the neighbour and pay, or tape up the box, or install your own next to
it!

I don't see that as a problem. It's an opportunity - to get no mail.

Yep. And for her to take this on herself without consulting anyone first is
odd. There are a variety of mailboxes for sale. Looks like she chose the
cheapest one but wouldn't you think she'd want the input from the rest of us
as to color, style, etc.? And now how are we supposed to pay her? We don't
know who she is? If we start blinding asking people, we might pay the wrong
person. I have an important document that was delivered yesterday after I
picked up my mail. I have no way to get it now.

It's a very strange thing to have happened. I'd be suspicious of some kind
of scam going on. OTOH, I'm suspicious of everything.

You like seafood. Don't ever steam live crabs. That's how
many people around here do it. The most evil death to
food animals every conceived.

In the Netherlands, "legal" fireworks were always allowed on New
Year's Eve. Each year, people lost fingers, eyes, etc. And pets got
lost, old people got scared etc. I once walked from my house to my
parents' house on New Years Eve. It felt like walking through a war
zone. Now they're starting to ban it more and more. Maybe not so free
is sometimes better.

I'll never forget one New Year's Eve. At the time, I had a nice
black neighbor who had a "gang like" boyfriend that would visit
sometimes.

That night, I was in my bedroom watching tv and at midnight
I heard 5 LOUD bangs right outside my building. Sounded
more like gunshots than firecrackers to me.

Next morning at dawn, I went outside (as usual) and right on
the grass there were 5 spent 38cal shells. Arrghh! ;-)

LOL, I'd ban that too.

No. It never has been. You don't have the freedom to endanger
your neighbors.

I got my dates all wrong and thought Fri. was the 4th. Nope. Might go to the
store for some lettuce to make a salad. And I'll open a can of baked beans.
We are close to being put back on lockdown and there's not much open or to
do the way it is. My neighbors normally do a lot of fireworks. Might sit
outside but damn. it's cold here.

It's the day that "Francis" wrote our crappy national anthem.
Each weekday morning at 3:58am on NBC, they feature a
different singer butchering it. Very annoying to hear.

lol!

Actually, I see that's not the day but it is the day he
wrote about.

"Some activists are calling for America to find a new
national anthem, and one popular proposal has put forth
John Lennon's "Imagine"."

That would be cool. One of my favorite Lennon songs and
John Lennon was my favorite musician too.

Another good change choice would be "America the Beautiful'
sung by Ray Charles. He nailed it.

That's about what I have.
