Many locales have days that prohibit use of burning and new equipment has to meet standards. Of course, much old equipment is still in use and will be for a long time. EPA's mandatory smoke emission limit for wood stoves is now 4.5 grams of smoke per hour (g/h) under Step 1 of the revised standards of performance for wood burning room heaters; Step 2 will take effect on May 15, 2020, when the standard will be lowered to 2.0 g/h. |

In the Australian countryside, everybody does what they want. There are even lots of people who can use garbage pickup, but choose not to. Instead, they burn all their household rubbish. I think they're ferals. |

We heat with wood ... which I cut split and stack with the help of modern (sorta) technology . BUT we also have a propane (too far out in the country for natgas to be profitable) heater for those times when we want to go out of town in the winter . Like the last 3 days that we spent in Memphis . I only turn the gas heater to about 50° , it's job is to keep the pipes from freezing . Took almost an hour to warm the house up (with the wood stove) after we got home ! -- Snag Illegitimi non carborundum |

They've been using catalytic converters for about 25 years now. |
Sqwertz <sqwertzme@gmail.invalid>: Dec 27 03:41PM -0600 Last year it was the lima beans that turned into sludge as they cooked, and this time it was navy beans that didn't soften after 4 hours of simmering. They're 0 for 2 on beans. Fuck Walmart (and fuck you, John) -sw |

That would at least help with the quality of the work done. I've heard stories where major flaws were missed. Also, there is wording in the contracts that the inspector is not liable if they miss something. |

I told her she shouldn't trust all people for that. My mother had a girlfriend who was blind, my mother would fold her bills each denomination in a different way. My mother also had a deaf girlfriend and she learned to sign. My uncle, my mother's brother, lost a leg above the knee in the Korean war, he always had a job, he was a helicopter mechanic in the army and the aft gunner on the helicopter. He always had a good job after the war, he became head helicopter mechanic for Republic Aircraft on Lung Guyland... they didn't care that he only had one leg. But his young wife couldn't handle it and divorced him, also took their son and moved to Florida. It was not a happy situation but he coped. At the ripe old age of 70 he bought a game pavillion in Coney Island, where people had to toss a small wooden ring over pop bottles for prizes. Seems silly but he made more money than as a helicopter mechanic, and he enjoyed interacting with people. Kootchie can't hold a job as a bed pan nurse. |
