Dave's not required to use the Canadian library system. I poked around a bit and learned that if I want to download e-books from my local library, they have an app that you install on your device. The books are apparently in Epub format, so it's unclear to me what's unique about the app. Perhaps it talks to their server in a way it understands. Cindy Hamilton |

Maybe the library app also looks after expiry dates. Can a Kobo reader read epub? The last time I was looking for a new e-reader a few years ago, Kobo was a no go, because it locked you in to something you didn't want to be locked into. |

Nemo <nemo@nospamatnotime.org>: Jan 01 03:04AM -0600 >> clippers, attach the #4 guard and do it yourself. Two haircuts will pay >> for the set! > Yep. That's what I did back in March when I found out the Barber shop I used was closed. I thought I'd better get my butt down to Wally World and get a hair trimmer set before they're sold out. I bought a Wahl with guides for different lengths, combs, scissors, oil, etc. It was about $45. I cut mine in the bathroom in front of the mirror holding a handmirror in one hand and trimmers in the other and standing on a 30 gallon trash bag. I'll never go back to paying for haircuts. At my age and with the amount of hair I have left I don't need no steenking styling. |

Is that not a "thing" anymore? We've been talking about two different things, and I believe we've gotten muddled. Sheila and Joan are talking about sinks with separate faucets for hot and cold. Some others have also been talking about a single faucet with a mixing valve between the hot and cold supplies, controlled by either two individual hot and cold valves or a single-handle cartridge. The latter is a matter of taste and--if retrofitting--what the sink is set up for. We have separate hot and cold valves in our kitchen because the sink was already drilled with three holes and because my husband likes it that way. In the bathroom we have a single-handle valve because I only wanted one hole in the vanity top. Cindy Hamilton |

I grew up on municipal water and to me chlorinated water tastes just fine. That said, I also like a good well water. Sadly, the well that came with this house was sulfurous (and the septic system was at the end of its days) so we connected to municipal water and sewerage at our first opportunity. Our water has a fairly long trip from the plant to our tap, so it's colder in the winter than the summer. We use a lot more ice in the summer. Cindy Hamilton |
