That will not be the winning combination to convince her she likes
salad after all.

There's no guess work; ss measuring jugs have engraved calibrations
which never wear off.
Mine can also be used on the hob, in the oven or in the freezer.

Julie, both do the same thing. One just may be more easy to use with a
liquid or a solid and that is the only difference.

Agreed Sheldon. True accuracy is with weight though in a few cases
like really humid weather, that can throw flour off a bit.

I have matched sets (Julie would call them dry measure probably) that
have spouts for liquid pouring. 1 2 cup clear pyrex for when I need a
lot of water or something spillable.

Only with the bread machine do I bother with more than an eyeball
measure.

LOL! Actually the menicsus is useful to me. I need about 2 ts extra
liquid to the measure for my current bread machine. Before, I measured
the top by eye level, now the bottom. That 'pluff' is just what I need.

Over here most people refer to that kind of container as a pitcher. A jug
would have a narrow neck. It would be more unusual to refer to an open top
vessel as a jug. No doubt this varies some but those images show pitchers
from the US point of view.

HTH... seriously... you've spanked this one raw.

To be fair, a lot of Americans (me included) picture this type of
container first when the word jug is used - not a container that is
used primarily for measuring.

Actually, I think we tripped over a term not used on this side of the
pond. I am guessing UK uses the term 'jug' for a larger measure item?
We tend to quart, 1/2 gallon or gallon there and no term 'jug' used to
measure it.

Let me help you:-)

and here's what it says under the picture

" Made of stainless steel, durable, unbreakable, sturdy, strong and will
last longer than plastic and glass. Never worry about it's going to
break or dropping it accidentally.
Light weight, lighter than some heavy glass measuring cup with the same
capacity. Wide mouth design of the cup, makes it so easy to clean and
use.
Great handle. The handle has great grip to hold the cup. The angled
handle allows you to hold and pour liquid securely, and it is spot
welded on. With closed handle, easy to store, just hang it on the wall
on the wall of your kitchen.
The measuring cup have a nice look and is so useful to use at home,
restaurant, bar and party. If you cook a lot at home then it would be
very useful for you. It's a must have for modern kitchen. If you do not
want to ruin your recipe by adding more or less water, using this useful
measuring cup will help your food come out perfect.
The measuring lines on the inside of the cup are easy to read and has
units for both ml and oz. The ounce measurement starts from 4 oz to 16
oz with 4 oz step value. The liter measurement starts from 100 ml to 500
ml with 100 ml step value."

thought I did. And what a remarkable coincidence who those two people
just happen to be...

On the rare occasion that I meet someone who states 'they're in
a hurry' and want preferential treatment I always reply "we're
ALL in a hurry and if you are so impatient you should have been
here when the doors opened." It seems to shut them up in a hurry,
albeit they are fuming.

Pizza in the park for me tonight. A local cycling club holds this every
year. Since I live nearby and the pizza place won't deliver to the park,
I get co-opted. Always a nice social event that enables me to catch up
on old acquaintances.

You have five cans of tomatoes in various forms. You couldn't lift them
out of the car so so you called a psychic who came over and carried them
into the house. Of course you didn't notice the date stamped on the
cans but now that you have you'll throw them out within a week. <G>

You're in luck; Coastal Vineyards, Inc. didn't renew their trademark on it
last year. For a modest fee you can register it as your own. Of course,
you can not collect royalties on all the t-shirts that have been and are
sold with that on them.

Umm - no.

"When you measure water or aqueous solutions, <snip>, the top surface of
the liquid will rise slightly towards the edges, forming a curved
surface called the meniscus. You should always line up the lowest point

that the bottom of the meniscus lines up properly with the calibration

It's just me, but If I need that kind of accuracy, I weigh my liquids.

Oh . . . for baked goods, I always weigh my brown sugar.

I've used the Dremel since the late 80's so it's not going to be a problem. I wouldn't use it for sharpening a lawnmower blade - or would I? :)
