In my grandmothers time they believed that if the shingles circled
your torso and met up on the other side - you were a goner! It was
never true but can't imagine how painful that would be.

Ah. I see we have a virgin here, folks. ;)

PS - I did actually deliver my daughter at home on that momentous
night almost 40 years ago. Dr.Dad! :)

I remember when I was a kid a neighbor had them and my parents were
talking about him having shingles under his arm. I was trying to
visualize a couple of roofing shingles under the arm. Sounded nasty.

Aye, I can't visualise it either.

My Walgreens drug store has a poster sized photo on their side wall.
It is a photo of a bared back. From the top of the shoulders to just
below the waist the entire back looks like raw meat -- the ugliest
thing I have ever seen. I didn't want to mess with that.

I'm surprised. It's not unusual in elderly people who have had either
chicken pox or the vaccine for chicken pox.

My grandmother had shingles when I was a kid.

My husband had shingles 7 years ago; woke up one morning with a row
of painful red blisters round his ribs ; he thought he must have been
bitten by something. I took one look and guessed it was shingles;
phoned GP DR surgery who said "come right now". She confirmed it and he
started treatment that same morning. Because his treatment was so early
and fast no more rash spread and he made a complete recovery within a
fortnight.

The NHS offers free shingles vaccine to over-70's. As soon as we were
old enough we both got vaccinated; no problems or side effects.

Even though he'd already had shngles he was still advised to get
vaccinated.

Grilled cheese with a very thin slice of tomato really takes the
plain over the top. Never tried some jalapeno though. I'll give
it a try.

Who was is that said they made grilled cheese using a tortilla?
Boy does that sound like a FAIL to me. I picture every bite
squeezing the melted cheese out the sides.

Oh it was you that said that. Bet you've actually never made a
grilled cheese that way. If you had you wouldn't ever again.

You would be wrong on both accounts,

I usually make my grill cheese with more than two different types of
cheese such as swiss, cheddar, jack, and or other types. Add on
pickets, a little mayo and it is heaven!!

Generally called a Quesadilla
from Wiki
"Quesadilla
Dish
A quesadilla, or sometimes specifically a cheese quesadilla, is a
Mexican dish, consisting of a tortilla that is filled primarily with
cheese, and sometimes meats, beans, vegetables, and spices, and then
cooked on a griddle. Traditionally, a corn tortilla is used, but it
can also be made with a flour tortilla, particularly in northern
Mexico and the United States"

That was our new buddy. Technically, what he described is
a quesadilla. I eat them frequently (more frequently than
I eat grilled cheese), albeit on a flour tortilla.
The trick is not to put too much cheese inside.

Their US version is way too sweet now. Frenchs is better...or
even the generic brands. L&P does make a very tasty steak sauce
though or was it a bbq sauce?

Well.... Arrrghh! ;o LOL
I've always thought that was the right spelling. Guess I should
start using my Spellchecker once in a while. Anyway, thanks for
educating me. It just always looked fine to me.

I remember once years ago, I wasn't sure how to spell it
correctly. I actually brought the jar to my computer to make it
right. That one time I did but then got it wrong since.

Anyway, thanks for finally pointing it out to me. Any day that I
learn something new is a good day. I won't get it wrong again.

Probably is the same exact plant. Just another example of how the
Brits always spell things oddly then the upstart Americans fix
it. ;)

I'm right there with ya on that one, Ed.
I don't ever eat morning breakfast but I do like the food so
sometimes a 'breakfast for dinner' meal. Two items are fried over
easy (juicy) eggs and toasted&buttered rye bread.

For some reason, they always make the various rye breads in an
oval that just don't fit in a toaster. So when toasting rye, I
cut it in half. Once toasted and buttered, I'll cut those pieces
in half. So....4 pieces from one slice.

Just like you with the honey, I'll eat 3 pieces plain with my
eggs and always save the last piece that has orange marmalade or
grape jam. That is eaten last as a breakfast dessert.

well ya see everyone does not seem to be able to use simple
conversions, it is so strange.

For instance take my original recipe and get precut frozen fries and
put them in a skillet with pre cut frozen veggies or even just onions
and spinach and take a 30 minute mean into a 13 minute meal.... cook
time I mean... and it can be served any time... In fact I love a good
hash brown meal at 2:45 in the am after a night of hard partying with
various others....
