They end up on welfare. In too many cases, the cycle continues for multiple generations. Apparently, there is some sort of bottomless chest of money that we can use to support a growing number of people who cannot or will not support themselves. I have to wonder what would happen if all the hard working people who create products, provide services and create jobs all left. There would be no one willing and able to fill their positions and no one to pay the taxes to support the non workers, and I have to ask, if they are unwilling to look after themselves and their families, why should we. |

Not necessarily. Most Congress members are wealthy. They could have my crappy HMO and still get good health care. I don't know what you mean by "retirement funds". She had qualms about coming into our house when I had pet (white) rats. If I had been there I probably would have picked him up. While I was at university I looked after the animals in the psychology lab. We went through thousands of rats, using them for training and for neurological studies. We occasionally had more rats that we could accommodate and I would take some home for pets or give them to friends. They make great pets. They are smart and very friendly. |

| Dave Smith <adavid.smith@sympatico.ca>: Feb 20 02:13PM -0500 I thought that after replacing four major appliances in 6 weeks I was pretty well set for a while. Now it is the small appliances. The other day I went to make my morning espresso and my machine would not work on steam mode. The coffee mode worked fine and I had to tough it and drink the espresso straight. I immediately went on line to check out espresso makers. When my wife got back from walking the dogs I warned her about the problem and advised her that Canadian Tire had a great sale on them so I was going to order a replacement. Next thing I know, she is making her latte and the machine is working fine. Phew. This morning I was making a batch of date squares. Since I use large flake oats instead of quick cooking I mix them up in the food processor. The last time I used it the blade attachment was hard to remove. The shaft appeared to be slightly bent. It worked to mix up the dry ingredients, but when I took the bowl off the top of the shaft broke off. So..... of to the store for a replacement. I just got a low end Cuisinart that was on sale for about 40% off. It should suit my purposes. |
