I had to look up "dugout basement", as I'd never heard of it before. We'd call that a "Michigan basement". I can't remember if I've ever seen one. Sounds like horseshit to me, too. Taxable valuation is related to the market value (here), so a house without a basement would naturally be worth less and its taxes would be lower. Cindy Hamilton |

My son thought it was just awesome. I'd certainly eat some next Thanksgiving. It tastes like Cheese Whiz with a fishy aftertaste. :) |

I think turmeric, sliced red beets and mushrooms, sliced rings of onions and then a bowl of stewed tomatoes with mild green chiles... way too overpowering. It really needs to be simple, IMHO. In this case I'm surprised Carol didn't simply suggest pan fried scallops in oil with minced ginger and garlic and deglazed with a little stock (or whatever the current popular Asian broth is called) and finished with a dash of soy sauce. ;) Plated with rice. Or noodles. Jill == The way I saw it (I could be wrong) Carol offered a few to choose from, not pile them all up on one plate, Carol? |

Yes and something in store bought *seems* to make me and Don feel a little 'off'. It's not gluten as we eat scads of that. I am assuming some commercial preservative messes with us mildly. It's difficult to put our finger on. It's fairly recent that we noticed it seemed to be happening when we ate commerical breads like hot dog buns, hamburger buns and such that I would usually get at the store since they are a little awkward to make at home. I have the right pans for both so we will start making them here though my hamburger bun recipe may need some practice to come out the right size/shape we want. == I think it is a problem with a lot of bought stuff. Preservatives:( You only have to look at the ingredients! Things go bad much more quickly here than bought stuff. I know the reason for that and I prefer not to use it. |

You're going to fit in well in this crowd but what the heck is gluten free bread and butter chips? This implies that certain brands of pickles have gluten. What brands are those? I've never had pickles with gluten - sounds wild. :) --- There is a debate as to whether or not some brands/types of vinegar contain gluten. So it could be possible. Not likely though. |

That's not true about the gluten. Some people have a gluten intolerance. They should avoid it too. And people with arthritis often need to avoid wheat and nightshades. That being said... Most people shouldn't avoid it. AFAIK, only one other person here has to avoid it and that's Ken K. Now gluten might not be his issue. I know wheat is, among other things. I would tell this guy to this to a GF group but I already well know that no such group exists. There is a celiac forum but they started getting bitchy there if you don't actually have celiac. No good food allergy groups either. They have so much fighting going on, it makes this group look tame. Eventually they drive off all newcomers and then turn on themselves so much that the group fails. |

The offensive part to me is "death" but then he is applying it to a religion, not necessarily the people of that religion. What I think is so funny is that he or she is getting bent out of shape by others beliefs. What does that mean? Low self esteem? Probably. Another person's beliefs should not bother one if that person is not trying to get you to believe as they do. Live and let live. |

No, seriously how intelligent can they be? Intelligence and beliefs don't necessarily go hand in hand. People tend to say, "I'll believe it when I see it!" I prefer to say, "I'll see it when I believe it!" People say that I live in a dream world. And I do. Dream big and make it happen! That works for me. And I don't follow any religion at all. I aldo know very intelligent people who fail at simple life skills and have no social skills. Again, there is no one size fits all. |
