| jmcquown <j_mcquown@comcast.net>: Mar 05 10:30PM -0500 A homemade freezer dinner, prepared and portioned out in serving sizes several weeks ago: chicken stew. Spooned over a couple of crumbled biscuits. Quite tasty; I was hungry and it hit the spot. :) I made and portioned out this stew for the freezer when the temps outside were around 70F. Tonight it might get down to freezing. It doesn't matter. This is a nice hot meal regardless of outside temperatures. :) Jill |

I won't be eating that. Picked up a package of store brand scalloped potatoes with three cheese and onion. I'll have that with perhaps some bacon and raw celery. |

| Joy Beeson <jbeeson@invalid.net.invalid>: Mar 06 12:11AM -0500 I chop garlic with the same huge knife I use for celery: cut the cloves in half with a smaller knife, put them cut-side down on the board so they don't roll, slice them as thin as I can chop-chop-chop, sweep the pile together with the knife, rotate the board ninety degrees, chop until the pile is disordered, repeat until fine enough. Most of the time I just throw the peeled cloves in whole, then when serving, pick them out and spread them on a cracker. Bulbils I squash and pick the skins out. Being squashed, they don't need to be minced. I don't cook many bulbils now that I've found out how good the green spathes are. Way back when I had a bush that produced teeny-tiny peppers, I made a sauce by filling a bottle with bulbils, peppers, and twelve-percent vinegar. -- Joy Beeson joy beeson at comcast dot net http://wlweather.net/PAGEJOY/ |

I had to fill my tires and it was bitter cold with my gloves off. I had a heck of a time getting the valve caps off because my fingers were so stiff and cold. |

The problem is that one tastes like another, and with two shots of whiskey and one of vermouth, that is way too much booze to drink in a day. Since I could not resist the second one I had to stop drinking them entirely. I have a nice beer or a glass of wine instead. |

I went on a tour of the Jack Daniels distillery 5 or 6 years ago and it was interesting as well as entertaining. But good grief, it was hot as hell the we went. Thankfully, as much lemonade as you could consume was offered after the tour. Pretty sure I downed at least a gallon. |

I would not start my crockpot and select a time that it would shut off in the middle of the night. When I've used it in the past I would start it early in the morning so what I would plan to eat that day would be ready by either early afternoon or suppertime. |

Roasted lamb is quite common as an Easter meal but I don't think that racks are. A rack barely feeds two, and they would be pretty expensive for a crowd. We usually reserve them for a special dinner for the two of us. > Anything in particular side dish suggested to go with it? I always like asparagus with lamb, but carrots, peas or beans would be good. Saute mixed vegetables would be great. Roasted potatoes or garlic mashed. |
