I can put a roast in the oven at 2 pm and it's ready for dinner.
That's all the magic I need.

That sounds like too much work.

When I worked sometimes I would cook something in the crockpot either over-
night or during the day when I would be sleeping. But I would put it on the
back porch on the bistro table to do it's magic. The smell of something
yummy cooking in the house would wake me up and make me want to rip the lid
off the crockpot and bury my face in it. Ask me how I know something mouth
watering would wake me up. :-)

Back in 1963, I needed to pass the equivalent of grade 12 in French (or
another modern language) to get into Uni. They dropped that requirement
the following year.

Ours is a on piece of paper on the side of the fridge under a small
magnet . We keep a pencil close by <grin> . We usually use old envelopes
and tear off whatever list we have made until the envelope is gone .

It's unfortunate, but some people are the authors of their own
misfortune. We had a problem for a while with with long boarders. A
bunch of teens used to congregate by an intersection about a mile down
the road from out house. The road is wide enough for two way traffic
plus on road parking in both sides, and they seemed to think of it as
their personal skateboard park. They would be wheeling around, trying
stunts, falling, wandering out in front of traffic. I thought at the
time that it was just a matter of time before someone got killed. One
of them did.

They are as much a hazard to other bicyclists. I have had many near
collisions with other bikes on bike trails. The trails are wide enough
two, so on coming bikes can pass each other safely. I learned to hug the
centre of the trail because I had to many close encounters with pairs of
oncoming bikes. It is wide enough for two, not for three, and I am not
going to be forced off the trail. Stick to the centre and force them
into single file, then there is room for me to move over and pass safely.

Speaking as a motorist, a motorcyclist and bicyclist, I have to agree
that a portion of motorists definitely need to behave a little better,
but it is the pedestrians and bicyclists who have the highest
percentages exhibiting bad behaviour.

I live in an area that hosts bicycle races, so we are cursed with
cycling clubs practicing. Stop signs don't even exist for those guys.

Lazy bum ! By the time my wife gets up tomorrow morning I'll have
bread dough rising in the pans . She works shitty shifts at Wm , doesn't
get off until 10 most nights . I let her sleep as late as she wants , if
it was noisy to mix dough I'd wait - Max (Doggus Maximus the Handsome
Hairball) gets me up usually around 5:45 - 6:00 (he figgers if it's
light he needs to be on guard duty) so I always time to kill before she
awakens .

We started learning French in Gr.7. In high school we were supposed to
take at least one language. They offered Latin,French, German and
Spanish. I took French and German.

I like Bertmans but I have to order a case of it at a time. Which
isn't out of it at a time. That stuff lasts forever. I'm not a
heavy mustard user. I think they call themselves the Stadium
Mustard. Long feud in Cleveland about who made what the original.
The original mustard got stolen by a distributor.

I also wish they made Koop's Deuseldorf again. Oh look, 2 left on
Amazon - only $8/bottle. And $10 for Bertman's. That's why I don't
play the Amazon game.

It depends on the guests. A bunch of guys watching football?
Definitely. My husband and his friends playing D&D? Why not?

My grandmother's canasta group? Probably not.

One thing I've never had to worry about is a bunch of guys watching
football. LOL That is exactly what that deli-meat sandwich sounds like
it is for.

I discovered the ultimate snacky-food a month or two ago. My son was on
his way to our place and would be passing a particular pizzeria and
asked if I would like him to pick up a facaccia sandwich for lunch.
Sure. I had no idea what he meant, but said yes. It turned out that this
place takes a party pizza size faccacia bread, splits it in half, puts
layers of cold cuts, cheese and shredded lettuce with dressing, lays the
top back on and cuts it up into squares.

They only sell the individual sandwiches at noon but you can order a
whole sheet.... about twice the cost of a party tray pizza, but a much
better deal. I was telling a friend about it, and having grown up in
that city, he knew about it and said he and his wife often buy a whole
one when entertaining a crowd.

Ha... like my niece and the time she dropped in on her step sister, who
was getting ready to entertain a bunch of people she had invited for a
pool party. BN ate all the food before the guests arrived.

Okay, but this places spells it faccacia,

That's basically it. It is like a submarine sandwich, but a heck of a
lot better.

My dad slipped on some ice and shattered his ankle in Sweden. His surgery and the couple of days in the hospital cost $50. My guess the rehab was also similarly priced.

Rich countries should look after the basic needs of their people, like
that. Or else what's the point of being a rich country?

Was that the price he paid, or what the hospital billed Medicare
and any supplemental insurance he has?

If the latter, I bet the price tag was a lot more than $50.

they are almost unheard of out in my state as well yet one touched

on the road got photos with their dashboard cameras.
