| GM <gregorymorrowchicago07@gmail.com>: Jun 04 03:57PM -0700 https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/dead-shooting-australian-city-darwin-63472167 Gunman out on parole kills 4 in Australian city of Darwin ByROD MCGUIRK, ASSOCIATED PRESS MELBOURNE, Australia — Jun 4, 2019, 10:10 AM "A man who was out on parole was arrested after fatally shooting four men and wounding a woman in an hour-long downtown rampage Tuesday in the northern Australian city of Darwin, police said. Police did not reveal a motive for the shotgun attack, but ruled out terrorism. It was Australia's third mass shooting since the country introduced tough gun laws in response to a 1996 massacre in which a lone gunman armed with two semi-automatic assault rifles killed 35 people in Tasmania state. Mass shootings are usually defined as those resulting in at least four deaths excluding the shooter. In Tuesday's rampage, four men were killed and a woman was wounded at five places around Darwin, said Northern Territory Police Commissioner Reece Kershaw. The 45-year-old suspect was released from prison on parole in January and was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, Kershaw said. Police did not say why he had been in prison or whether the bracelet helped police arrest him. "He is an individual who's well known to police and has a number of interactions adverse with the police," Kershaw said. The woman who was wounded did not have serious injuries, he said. The Health Department had earlier said two people were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds and both were in stable condition. It was not immediately clear if the second victim had been injured in an unrelated shooting. Kershaw said the man was arrested after he contacted a senior police officer. An Australian Broadcasting Corp. reporter said she saw police tackle and taser the gunman at a busy intersection. Kershaw did not explain why the suspect was being held under police guard in a hospital. The suspect had yet to be charged. Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner described the incident as an "incredibly difficult night." "This is not the Darwin we know," Gunner said. "This may be an event you prepare for, but this is never an event you want to respond to." Witnesses described the shooter using a pump action shotgun to fire multiple blasts at the Palms Hotel and Buffalo Club. A victim was killed at each. Kershaw confirmed that the suspect was armed with a shotgun, but could not confirm what type. Pump action shotguns have been virtually banned from private ownership in Australia along with other rapid-fire weapons under the country's tough gun laws designed to prevent mass shootings..." |

I have had real wasabi a few times, but frankly the tin with the powder that is regular hoseradish and coloring, works fine for me. A lot of the time, I like 'asain seeming' (but made 100% in the USA) that says 'wasabi mayo'. The ingredients are horseradish and a little green food coloring to make it seem a little special. Call me silly but I like the little touch there. |

When insulin levels fall, we release fat from our fat > tissue and use it for fuel." Well, I'll stay old school and trim. While helping our daughter trim a bit for Navy entry (she was at 160 and had to be 152, now 146 4 months later BTW) we simply paid attention to diet more and turned out she didn't know how to figure calories. She's smart and caught right on. Don and I are natural 'endotherms' and while middle age had us gain a little as most do, we both can still fit in most clothes from our mid-30's. Don is at 178 now, was 185 (5ft 8 I think). I've dropped 7 lbs from the better attention to healthier foods as well so 117 at 5ft 1 right now. None of this was done in any radical way with our shift. We have always eaten healthy with at least 1/3 of the food in any day being fruits and veggies. We only shifted to pay attention to treats which are now in little 100 calorie packs of chips and such or lavosh crackers. A bit more steam cooking and less frying. The article above seems to absolve one of any effort like 'it's all in your genes' but while some find it easier to lose than others, the idea that if you take in less than you expend, DOES work. Always. Regardless of any other issues. There are a lot of studies that show many who are over weight either eat out of habit, or have innaccurate responses to hunger and satiation. |

Or French and French Canadian. Once when I was in France there was a movie on TV that I thought was French, but it had French subtitles. Not too far into it there was an arena and a hockey game and I realized it was French Canadian. My friend was born in Quebec and lived there until he was 10. Years later he ended up working there for a while and his wife was looking forward to learning French. He told her not to try to learn it there because it wasn't really French. |

We don't only eat at weekends, I do a lot of prep too! And I don't 'double dip' when prepping. I taste for seasoning as I go along and don't put the same spoon or fork in and out of the food again and again. That's not sanitary. I change cutting boards between meat and veggies and bread and cheese. I don't put the pot with the food in it into the fridge, I find an appropriate covered dish. All that stuff goes easily into the dish washer. I do wash sharp knives and put them away as I go along. Janet US |

Naturally, I'm a little more careful if one of us has a cold. But by the time the symptoms are apparent, all the germs have been passed along anyway. Still, it doesn't hurt to try. Cindy Hamilton |
