His target audience is not retirees who know how to cook. It's young
people, who are more tolerant of the zaniness.

I wouldn't call it zaniness, but childishness or retardation.

Note: some retirees only *think* they know how to cook.
I always enjoyed his antics on that show.
He was trying to entertain vs plain blah cooking.
Same with Emeril with his "BAM" thing.
Alton dumbed it down but nobody needed to be offended.
I especially thought the "camera inside the oven pointing out"
was an interesting twist.

I don't like ice cream. I never did. Angela got me an ice cream maker
because she likes it!

Yes, I remember you talking about it. It was around the time I got big
one. I ended up giving it to the grands:)

I was once gifted a nice but too large electric
deep fryer. Good for frequent large amounts of
cooking but not for me. I just use a dedicated,
fairly small saucepan for the rare times I deep fry.

I ended up giving it to my daughter but I doubt she
uses it either. oh well.

Same with ice cream, as seldom as I eat ice cream,
I'll just buy some occasionally.

Also with my (probably) favorite soup - Hot&Sour soup.
Too much trouble to collect the infrequent ingredients.
Much nicer to buy a freshly made pint from a good
Chinese restaurant occasionally. :)

What! dish towels should cost as much as a pair of white socks and be
made of white flour sack cloth. Doesn't everybody know that?

Saves me no time... two plates + utensiles take no more than ten
minutes to hand wash, hand dry, and put away. A dishwasher needs to
be loaded, unloaded, and runs for at least an hour... saves nothing...
and wastes electric. We don't use nearly enough dishes in a week to
fill a dishwasher.

Do you not use anything for prep?? I don't know if it is because I
like to cook from scratch, but I always have plenty for the dishwasher, not
just two plates and utensils!

Does anyone else have only two plates and utensils??

Popeye doesn't use much. He cooks hamburgers in his hand, for
instance.

Personally, I wash everything I have used as I use it, and no longer
need it, by hand as I cook. It's no big deal for me.

> Does anyone else have only two plates and utensils??

By the time we eat, two plates and utensils is my goal. I put those in
the dishwasher. My wife has been known to leave me alone for a month
while visiting relatives. I don't use the dishwasher at all then. We
all have our own methods. I wouldn't worry about it.

Takes seconds to load and unload two plates & utensils.

You don't need to stand there supervising it for an hour. I start
the dishwasher and leave the room. It typically isn't done by the
time I go to bed, but it doesn't require my constant supervision any
more than my water heater requires me to observe it while it does its
job.

It typically saves a lot of heated water, which isn't free. I'll admit
that's more of a concern for those of us who pay for water by the gallon
rather than the kilowatt-hour (pumping from the well).

Pots and pans. I put everything in the dishwasher (besides sharp
knives) that will fit.

Why am I bothering to reply? You're intransigent.

I don't have a recipe for the sauce. There's all kinds of ways to make this
up. I make mine pretty watery but you might like it a bit thicker. Just mix
some oyster sauce with water until you get the consistency you want, add a
small amount of shoyu and sugar and sesame. I don't think you can really
mess this up. Any way you do it is going to be tasty. Heat this up in a
small pan until the sugar is dissolved and pour over the choy sum.

Thanks:) That sounds like it might be tasty poured over other things
too:))

Today I am making seafood fried rice. What would you add to that?

Oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil would work fine for a Chinese style fried rice. There's all kinds of fried rice around here. These days I'm partial to making fried rice with kim chee. It's kind of a thing around here.

My parents beat into my head that if I didn't like the job I had and
aspired to better, go get another job. That philosophy is too logical
to be understood nowadays.

[ObFood] Spaghetti and meatballs. Laugh it up! We haven't had spaghetti
and meatballs in several years. Other than the spaghetti itself, I made
it all by myself! Real browned meatballs that I made and none of that
jarred stuff as a sauce.
I'm going to neglect to post the recipe, but here are the ingredients:
hamburger, diced canned tomatoes, finely chopped trinity, bread crumbs,
oregano, basil, sliced olives, mushrooms, garlic, salt, sugar,
spaghetti noodles and...um, love. What a pain in the ass!
I think of this dish and tuna casserole as "belly filler". I had bought
a pound of hamburger and was uninspired to make cheeseburgers.
Now, I'm inspired again!

automatic weapons and kill infidels. That's not too far from you, is
it?

I missed the last two. I just heard him say, "I'll be dead in 5
years". I just chalked that up to subconscious wishful thinking on
his part.

I beleiveteh bipolar part, no doubt. But not the other stuff. teh
bipolar causes the "attention whore syndrome" and he's always been
begging for attention. The MS thing was new last year, now more
recently, two cancers.

If he has prostrate cancer he'd be in chemo and radio therapy, at
least. Not Nordictrak therapy. What a bunch of bullshit.
