Something else:

https://www.vox.com/2015/10/1/18000510/gun-suicide-homicide-comparison

There are more gun suicides than gun homicides in America

Nearly 23,000 people died by firearm suicide in 2016.

Gun homicides get far more attention in the popular press, but most gun deaths are the result of suicide. In 2016, the last year for which the CDC provides numbers, 22,938 people committed suicide by firearm, while 14,415 people died in gun homicides. Historical data shows it's been this way for a while

In total, 38,658 people died of firearm injuries in 2016. A relatively small number (495) of those were due to accidental firings. Another 300 resulted from discharges of "undetermined intent," and 510 resulted from "legal intervention/war..."

There are other factors involved, like cultural attitudes toward self
defense and protection of property. Combine a willingness to kill to
protect with access to guns and the rate will be higher. Gun ownership
rates in Canada are not far find the US, but our firearm homicide is
fraction of their, and the homicides are by far more of a problem within
certain ethnic communities.

I think black on black causes most gun deaths.

I don't have the exact source , but GM did post a link in reply to my
post with a link to some other statistics . The only articles i found
with a basic search are all opinion pieces ... no hard fact , but I will
keep looking . I do know that around here a murder is very very rare ,
while in Memphis (one of those liberal controlled cities) there seem to
be several incidents per week .

Not a problem in my opinion. People have the right to end
their lives whenever and however they please.

Although if they choose, for example, to step in front
of a rapidly moving vehicle, that's just selfish. Think
of the poor driver.

Thanks to the PC attitude of the day it can be difficult to find race
based statistics, but they are out there. If a person does not want to
remain willfully ignorant of reality they can check out the
neighbourhoods in which the majority of the shootings take place or
checkout the photographs in newspaper articles about the shootings. In
many parts of the US and in the Canadian cities with the highest numbers
of shootings, they are almost always black. People harp about how some
racial groups are disproportionately represented in the prison system,
but have difficulty accepting that it is a result of the crimes they
committed rather than their race.

Here is a link to a Canadian government statistics service that
addresses the over representation of Indians as victims and accused in
homicide cases.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-chicago-homicides-data-tracker-htmlstory.html

https://news.wttw.com/sites/default/files/article/image-non-gallery/Figure1.jpg

This article has a list of the 201 shooting victims in Chicago and it
indicates the race of each. 163 of them are black. Blacks make up only
1/3 of the population but account for 3/4 of the shooting victims.

There is a similar situation in Detroit. This article indicates that the
homicide rate for young black males is more than 4 times higher than the
national average.... which includes blacks.

Welcome to the 21st century where minimum wage is the best that many
people can hope for. There used to be high paying jobs in manufacturing,
but our business leaders have successfully lobbied to reduce trade
barriers so they can ship their production overseas where they can pay
less and ignore environmental standards.

I cook only for my husband and me. Sanitary is not an issue.

Naturally, I'm a little more careful if one of us has a cold.
But by the time the symptoms are apparent, all the germs have
been passed along anyway. Still, it doesn't hurt to try.

Roast beef was a very common meal in our house when I was a kid. While a
lot of people like it with horseradish, we usually had it with chili
sauce. Cocktail sauce makes pretty good sense, though I am likely to
stick to one or the other.

I went to meeting tonight and had a teri-beef sandwich. It was pretty good
and I ate the whole thing. This was made with grilled beef that's cut up and
covered in a teriyaki glaze. Tasty!

This afternoon we went to a place that sold baked goods out of a shipping
container. I suppose it's a cheap way to set up a business. I really liked
the corn/onion cake. It was sweet and savory with a distinct taste of black
pepper. My daughter likes going out to that shipping container and I could
tell that these new flavor combinations are inspiring her to bake something
new.
