My guess it was because I hadn't eaten. Luckily, there was a McDonald's nearby so I ordered a chicken McNugget Happy Meal. Within a few minutes of eating some food my breath returned to its normal sweet self. Was there every a more aptly named product than a Happy Meal? I think MERS was the last major new virus that used the old place-name convention. The "Chinese virus" was temporarily named "2019 novel coronavirus", but its official name is "Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2". Of course, the popular press (including That Man in the White House) won't use the official name, so they've just been calling it whatever they like, depending on their political lean.
