It's just that "Sorry, I was thinking 40" was a bit cryptic.

That wasn't exactly helpful.

If he can't be bothered to include relevant text, I can't be bothered
reading him.

Where I worked we worked 8 hour days at straight time but very often
we also worked 12 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, those extra 8 hours
were at time and a half. We were also asked to work Saturdays and
sometimes Sundays, those were for double time. There were times when
we worked three shifts, I liked the midnight shift, from midnight to 6
AM but were paid for 8 hours and from 5 AM til 6 AM we did clean up,
cleaned off the machines and swept the floors of metal chips... was
great pay for what amounted to custodial work... but worked out well
as it saved them from having to hire a crew who would hang around
leaning on their brooms for eight hours and being in the way.

In the perfect world, we would all use the same newsreader
but we don't.

Evidently what Thomas uses doesn't add quotes. I don't
mind clicking on the active link to see what he's talking
about.

Same with Dsi1 who often gets yelled at for posting a
comment without linefeeds and some here have to scroll
sideways to read. My newsreader is set to wrap all
incoming mail so I don't have that scrolling problem.

I'm too lazy to use a real newsreader, so I don't get a threaded view.
All I get is every post in the order they hit Google's server, or maybe
the order in which they were sent out. I just don't care enough about
Usenet to upgrade my viewing experience.

LOL If you switched to my newsreader, it would be a serious
*downgrade*. (Netscape® Communicator 4.73) (Windows98 too)
It's perfect for usenet. No need to upgrade.

I do use Thunderbird on the newer computers for mail
and the occasional usenet.

It doesn't sound horrible. A "nice dinner at home" for one's anniversary
sounds pleasant. I don't curl up and die if there are foods I don't like on
the table. I don't particularly like veal parm, but I know my husband
loves it, so it would be a nice thing to do for him for our anniversary.

Gary <g.majors@att.net>: May 27 09:20AM -0400

Well, Happy Anniversary to Dave and Megatron yesterday.
Also Happy Anniversary to Cindy and husband soon.

My parents were able to celebrate their 67th anniversary
before Dad died about 3 months later.

If I annoy anyone here, you can blame them for that.
bruce2bowser@gmail.com: May 27 06:03AM -0700

But, how do you know that rum is in them if the word rum (or rom) isn't describing what's in that picture? Cindy, you could pour Whoppers chocolate candy in a bowl and then claim that they're anything. I guess we just have to trust the picture.

Steve...sigh. You're just nit-picking in order to "win," and
always be right. Everyone (including you) knows just what
I meant.

Definition of arctic circle:
"The Arctic Circle is a parallel of latitude on the Earth at
approximately 66.5 degrees north from the equator."

There's still plenty of land above that latitude. That land
is called above the arctic circle. That's where
many waterfowl and caribou migrate to each summer to raise
their young. The arctic tundra.

I made a simple comment, no victory required.
I never expected a stupid, nit-picky argument but I should
have known. After all, this *is* RFC.

That's the only way I used to eat corn for the first 30 years of my
life: in "Mexican mix", with peas and bell peppers. Very much like
this:

Why wouldn't canned food have a brand?

Why shouldn't fresh fruit have the grower's or distributor's name
associated with it?

We grow both types, the Japanese ones are long and thin, we slice them
lengthwise, season, oil, and grill them. We do the same with the
large bulbous ones only we slice them into 1/2" thk round slabs...
excellent in a bun with a burger and a grilled onion slice.

Our supermarket ran out of subordinate clauses earlier this week.
Bummer.

Mrs. Claus is the only subordination claus I know of, but she is old and
not of today's thinking.

And possibly 'prescribed medications', as well. He has definitely
deteriorated over the last few decades.
