OTOH, I wouldn't expect a hotel staff to call me by my name - that would be weird. If I was at a hotel in Hawaii, "uncle" would be fine but only after it was established that I was a local. The rules for what we call each other varies and are quite complicated. >Of course, it's not right that a neighbor should call another neighbor "sir." I had got used to it at work, but not in stores and malls. One time I was going into a store and an guy who looked to be at least as old as me held to door and said "After you sir" I said "Thanks, but I hate it when an old guy calls me sir" and he said "Yes sir" ;-) |

Most Americans are pretty much blind to the stuff that goes down with being Asian-American in the US. To Asian-Americans, it's obvious. I read an interesting letter to the editors in the paper the other day that had been written by a guy who identified himself as being Chinese-Canadian and he rejected claims about wide spread anti Chinese discrimination. He said that in all his years here he had only been subjected to one racist remark, and he passed that off as the guy being an idiot. He went on to say that any negativity towards Chinese was nothing compared to the anti black racism in the Chinese community. |

Darn, that's a lot of TVs for 2 people, Sheldon. I have one in my living room that I never watch but grandchildren will when they visit. My main TV is a small 24" flatscreen in my bedroom. It sits on a small coffee table just 3' from me laying in bed. Since it's so close, a larger screen would be annoying. |

It is supposed to give me upt o 50 mps download and 10 mmps upload but it is usually more like 25 and 1.5. |

My wife was upset with me because he had called while I was out and I refused to call him back. I knew his game and had a rough idea of his schedule. He lived in Nova Scotia and was planning his annual trip to visit his brother in Saskatchewan. He would be needing a place along the route to crash. He had had a house in Nova Scotia but had sold it and was couch surfing with people there. The last time I let him stay here I got to listen to all his doom and gloom and his gloating about how nice it is not to be tied down to a house, a mortgage, taxes etc, Yeah. He found it cheaper to mooch off his friends. Not so bad in one's 20's but we were in out early 60s at the time. Time to grow up and look after yourself. I knew the brother quite well. He was probably about as excited about his visit as I was, but will tolerate it because he is family. |

I haven't had a FB account for years so hopefully things have changed. Back in the day there *was* a way to delete the account. They just made it extremely difficult to figure out how to do so. Click on some links posted from a Facebook account and you'll often be prompted to sign into FB to view whatever. If you do that, you've automatically re-activated your FB account. Delete doesn't necessarily mean your information has been scrubbed from database. Not at all. Jill |

| Gary <g.majors@att.net>: May 06 03:07PM -0400 Well, just a few days ago we were talking about and showing old corelle dinnerware and more. Just wanted to show the latest set I bought in the early 1990's. I like this set better than the older one. It's called "Shadow Iris" by Coringware. Here's a pic of what I have. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2005062354420078.jpg Odd pic though because the smaller plate is actually smaller than what is shown and the bowls are a bit larger than what you see. The bowls and smaller plates are the exact same diameter. I really love the pattern but I do wish they would have left off the green rim, like they did on the coffee cups. anyway, I bought a set of 16 pieces. 4X what is shown in the pic. |
