He seems to take pride in only asking $250 a month. Good lord, that's
what I paid for an entire private apartment in 1982. I'm talking
hardwood floors throughout, a walk-in butler's pantry, bedroom with
french doors, nice kitchen, a bathroom with a lovely pedestal sink and
clawfoot tub.

He's asking $250 for a bedroom. Shared bathroom. And oh dear, they
have to put up with the nutty live-in landlord who wants to be their
best friend, too.

I paid only $198.75/mo for THIRTEEN YEARS at 4621 Westminster in the Central Went End of STL, 1989-1992 or 3ish! In a big ole mansionly home! 3 floors 4 bedrooms 2.5 baths and a full basement!

Now that was my first experience with shared student living, and I'm still doing it! :-)

The election of Trump was supposed to appease and calm those resentful of having a colored guy in office for 8 years. Instead it further divided our nation and emboldened crazy white Karens to demand that Mexican-Americans, Asian-American, and Latinos, go back to where they belong. The good news is that the negros are no longer being told to go back to Africa. The bad news is that they're now told that they're going to get their asses called on by the cops.

Why Karens specifically?

Is there an iconic white Karen that I'm not aware of?

Not everyone. I usually refrain from a follow-up because I cannot tell if
it is really you or a forgery. The headers always seem to be in order,
yet the style is completely different. One seems a cogent example of
polite discourse. The other is vulgar often racist & mysogynistic
invictive. I cannot imagine it worth the real money it costs for anyone
to have an 'easynews' account just to forge you on Usenet, but I have
seen this elsewhere.

I don't want to chastise the 'bad' Sheldon at the expense of the 'good'
Sheldon. I suppose that for a lot of people, it is easier to just killfile
the alias you use.

The only thing that does not make sense is why you ('good' Sheldon) do
not complain to easynews about the forgeries.

A savory Swedish celebration sandwich cake. Ingredients are
negotiable, but I stayed pretty true to the general tradition with
only ingredients I had in the fridge and pantry.

First layer of the 'cake' was smoked sprats:

Second layer was chevre,, roasted and marinated red peppers, and
sweated cucumber and onion.

Layer #3 was egg salad with pepper and grated celery minus strings.

Icing was cream cheese, fresh grated horseradish, sour cream, and

I understood that much, at least. We have mail kiosks in banks for
20-30 houses in my 30-year old neighborhood. Mail Thieves live
them. Break one lock, get access to 25 mailboxes.

The post office maintains those. They are federal property. They
get run over and broken into conatantly in out city. This should be
a non-topic and is fart from rocket science. Julie just made it
confusing on purpose.

They will hold all your mail until the kiosk is replaced. You can
also go down to the PO and pick it up.

He's already spent $300K on the house, including the roof. He must
be planning on getting a mortgage on the house because he only
inherited $260K in cash and stocks. And he dumped all the valuable
stocks he didn't 'approve' of. He's doing all this for a house
that's going to default to bank which will sell for at most $125K
(and that's generous). That Chinese guy will buy it back again for
a mere $65K on repo, just like he did the first time.

I think that's awesome! At this point nobody could be justified
feeling sorry for John. Most everybody was pretty patient and
trying to be understanding at first. But now? After hundreds of
these "Fuck You All" and "In Your Face" posts? I hope he rots in
Hell and I live to see him bury himself.

Oh, I sent a tile roofing estimator to his house last week as my
last ditch effort to try and talk some sense into him. It basically
said, "Go drive by my friends and try and convince him he's getting
ripped off."

Oh, wait, I copied to my notepad. Here it is verbatim and I
included John's number, email, and address.

-------

An acquaintance of mine is getting ripped off by Old World Roofing.
$120K or a "repair and restore" of a 20-22 square clay tile roof.
He's already made a down payment of $25K+ in November and they
haven't done anything yet. I think they're running some kind of
ponzi roofing scam.

They're taking advantage of his mental state (he's a little nuts)
and we've all tried to knock some sense into him. You should try
and scoop this job. Heck, you can see the roof on Google drive by
and do a rough takeoff from satellite photos

https://www.google.com/maps/place/3068+Bellerive+Dr,+St.+Louis,+MO+63121/@38.7053763,-90.3101443,45m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x87df35900ca6fa2f:0x7ec7a4a11a7435f0!8m2!3d38.7053317!4d-90.3100977

Send him an email telling him you can do a NEW tile roof for less
than half (I assume) of that "restore and repair" job. Tell him Ed
Pawlowski asked you to send him some realistic numbers and see if
he'll let you do a formal quote for repair/restore or replace. In
the meantime, his roof has been leaking like crazy and the decking
ia probably shot I think that's roofing cement you see on the
gable valleys in the satellite images as John has mentioned it.

----

See how good a friend I am to John?

Err, well, Ed is? <ducking> I figure that was the only way John
might even glance at a second opinion - if he Saw Ed's name. Sorry
Ed, but no contact info was mentioned for you. It's just a name I
picked off the top of my head - I forgot it was yours <cough>.

The Battle of Bothwell Bridge was a religious fight, as most of those
situations always are. Politics and religion have always been neck and
neck. So yeah, they sold people into what amounted to slavery in the
name of the Lord and King (Charles II). Fun times!

Fortunately, the Captain of the ship died. The ship was diverted to New
Jersey. The Scots named the port where they landed "Perth Amboy" after
their Scottish homeland, Perth.

Really, if they'd landed the ship in Virginia my ancestors would haven't
been treated any better than black or brown people on a tobacco plantation.

My guess is that you were in the wrong Kailua since we don't have any black sand beaches on my particular rock. You were probably there in the wrong time too because the tourists haven't been coming to Kailua for very long. Are you a really pale Japanese type person? My understanding is that Japan rock stars visit the restaurants and blog about it and their fans go to these restaurants. It's an interesting thing.

I try to avoid going to Waikiki because it's a tourist spot. These days I like to avoid going to Kailua. My guess is that the locals avoiding tourists spots is a fairly common and natural thing around the world. It's nothing personal.

As it goes, tourism has dropped to zero these days and it'll take years for this rock to get back on its feet so rest assured that we're gonna get whats coming to us.
