Medical professionals and scientists simply don't know at this point.
They won't know until the second wave (I do believe there will be one)
hits and people who have already had Covid-19 either get it again or
don't. Only time will tell.

We don't need a second wave. The first wave is still active. Has anyone
- ANYONE - gotten this virus more than once? NO. Pretty typical.

I always get my 'flu shot every year, had Swine Flu in the mid 70s and
I can't say how awful it was! I feel these antivaxxers should be
executed and that celebrities are the leaders in the antivaxxer
movement is disgusting.

Yeah, it's fun old television. I was merely trying to point out to
Ophelia and others who have never set foot in the US, that's not what
things look like in real life in this country.

You don't need a "second wave" to get reinfected. People are already
getting reinfected. But I believe they don't yet know how common that
will be.

I use Postimage. I really don't like Amazon. I've clicked on a few
links here for pics recently of things people cooked or people bought in
the last couple of days. The first thing I saw was a big banner telling
me they're offering Prime Membership for 50% off for people who get EBT
(Food Stamps) and other government assistance. What, people who can't
afford to buy a bunch of stuff right now are supposed to line Jeff
Bezo's pockets for a 50% discount on a Prime membership? Irritates me no
end. The guy is a gazillionare. He doesn't need memberships from from
poor people. Just my 2 cents.

I'm glad your brisket turned out well. :)

Oh don't do that, Joan! Many years ago in a totally different cooking
forum there was a woman from Australia who wanted to try grits. (It's a
ground corn product, similar to cornmeal kinda sorta.) So I bought a $2
box of grits. Mailed it to Australia. That cost me about $20. It was
held in quarantine since it was a food item being imported into the
country. When she went to pick it up they told her it would cost her
$40 to get it out of quarantine. She declined and apologized to me,
saying she never would have asked me to send her some grits if she'd
known it would be so expensive. Hell, I wouldn't have bothered either.
That was the most expensive box of grits I ever bought. :)

Yes, he found some! It's very similar to the cornmeal that is used to
make polenta. Now he just needs a good cornbread recipe, of which there
are many.

Dried corn? Did you expect dried corn to be the same as corn from a can
or even frozen corn? Gotta be soaked at the very least, like dried beans.

Why the hell would you grate the potatoes before boiling them? That's
not the way to make mashed potatoes.

Funny thing, my mother never served green bean casserole. I found a
handwritten recipe for it taped inside one of the kitchen cabinets. I
left it there and smile every time I see it. I have to wonder why she
wrote it down. Maybe she made it for my dad after they moved here but
it sure wasn't a part of our food lexicon when growing up.

Coles and Woolworths are the big ones. Then there's Aldi as a serious

think.

I might be willing to try it if it were made completely from scratch,
but I suspect the green beans would be overcooked for me and it
would be a waste.

Ha ha. You do realize the Navy and the Marines are tied at the hip,
right? At any rate, I know you know it's a type of small white bean.
Dad made excellent Navy Bean Soup. Usually with a meaty ham bone but a
couple of (not smoked) ham hocks would do.

I'm not trying to call you a liar. Simply saying I couldn't imagine my
father cooking dinner when I was a teenager and had a sleepover. Even
if my mother hadn't been around my girlfriends and I wouldn't have asked
him to cook. We usually just had popcorn and sat in my room and talked
and listened to music.

BTW, that was a stupid move putting the old Pyrex dish directly on the
burner to make the gravy. It doesn't matter if you'd done it 100 times
before, that stuff was never intended to be placed directly over a hot
flame. I'm sorry it spoiled the meal. Lesson learned. :)

That's good. The others rip you off here. And that money doesn't go to
their suppliers. They get ripped off too.

Several would be collector's items now except my darn

covers.

Many more old ones too on cassette tape and even some

Did ya ever have a reel - to - reel, in the early 70's I got a TEAC rtr deck, had a bunch of pre - recorded tapes, thought that was the height of luxury...now I cannot imagine fiddling with such a mechanical device...

One thing about digital downloads is that they have really crummy sound compared to a good analog LP...

I got rid of all that old crap. The albums were all scratched up.
Tape doesn't last very long. All my DVDs are in boxes in the basement.
It's all digital downloads for me. They all sound better than the
AM radio in my first car.

They usually have pizza and whipped cream, half nekid pillow fights,
and practice kissing each other while a deranged guy peers through

And they always run upstairs trying to get away from the boogeymen.

Well, it was the cheapest wedge they had. That might have
made a difference. I do like bold flavors though.

It still amazes me. I was able to order a 12 roll pack of the tightly
wrapped Scott brand toilet paper from Walgreens. (It goes a lot farther
than the soft, loosely wrapped on the roll cushy stuff.) Got an email
from Walgreens saying everything in my order had shipped except the TP,
which is pending. The web site didn't indicate they were out of stock
so I'm guessing it is coming from a different distribution center.

Meanwhile, I found TP at (of all places) the Exxon convenience store
when I went to put gas in my car. I guess the toilet paper hoarders
didn't think to look there. I bought a four-roll pack and they had
more. Walgreens will get their shit together (pardon the pun) soon
enough and send me what I ordered. :)

We're living in weird times.
