Pinewood derby.

I won back in cub scouts when I was 10, but only came in second
place in 11th grade drafting class. The secret is to put graphite
on the axles and lead pellets in the front of the car so it weighs
the maximum allowed - which was 5 ounces.

Just call him "Satchmo." OTOH, William Strunk Jr. used to just say "fuck it", if you don't know how to pronounce a word, just say it out loudly and proudly. There's no point in adding timidity to the sin of mispronunciation. That guy ought to know. His little book is the bible of proper grammar.

What's the last song recorded by Satch? Maybe, it was this lovely ballad:

You certainly don't have to. I don't care if you do or not. If you're a self-centered asshole, there's not much chance of that happening. Who the heck is "we" anyway. Are you part of some royal family? 🤴

Possibly. But you're the one passing out your opinion of what people should
do when pronouncing a word.

Years ago I had a large shallow goldfish pond in my back yard. That was
about the time that Koi started becoming popular and available around
here. They weren't cheap. I paid over $100 for a half dozen of them.
They didn't last long. I thought maybe it was raccoons that were eating
them, but then one day my wife took the dog out in the morning and saw a
great blue heron taking off with one in it's bill. The koi were
replaced with 89cent per dozen feeder goldfish and an owl decoy was put
in guard duty. Here we are close to 30 years later and that owl is still
sitting there, and the fish are not heron food.

It's okay. You can blame the dog. They are not supposed to be running
loose and are not supposed to be chasing wildlife.

I think we can all agree, spelling and punctuation have very little to
do with each other. Especially words that are loosely translated by
people who emigrated from other countries.

How about old balding guys with a pony tail?

Our family was shorted on the hair genes. Mine was thinning on top but
still had some comb over. I was watching the news and Rudy Guilianni was
on and no comb over, but short hair on the sides. He looked younger
even though bald on top. Fifteen minutes later I had the same style
courtesy of a bear trimmer.

I can honestly say, I have very little gray hair.

LOL Joan! I don't actually care how a guy wears his hair but on the
rare occasions when I see a guy wearing a "man bun" I do think to myself
"that looks silly". Age isn't really a factor, either. I'd expect it
from a guy in his 20's. Not so much a man over the age of 50.

That's silly looking too. But hey, it's not my choice how anyone
chooses to wear their hair.

Well, yeah, herons eat fish.

No, I blame the dog owners. True they aren't supposed to be running
loose but I don't get the impression these people really care about the dog.

That's good to know, Janet. I've got the beginnings of a cataract, maybe
one in each eye, the doctor is monitoring. I've got a supplemental plan
as well and good to know it will pick up the balance.

When the time comes I will inquire about the special lenses.

It's no different than you paying a portion of your health insurance when
you work for a corporation. I don't know of too many companies that pay
all of its' employees health insurance. That supplemental plan gives peace
of mind when procedures have to be performed unless you like paying all of
those charge$ yourself.

Unless you have astigmatism, shut up yapping about things you have no
knowledge or experience with. I have it, have had it all my life, and
if there is a lense that will correct that problem I will try my best
to get it when the time comes.

I was supposed to have an eye examination two weeks ago but it was
cancelled due to the covid19 thing. She had been monitoring a cataract
in my left eye. I think it is starting to get worse.

It's not about astigmatism ... It's about how to zoom in on big ole
titties! For Popeye, it's much more important than astigmatism :)

A lot depends on what age kids... at 5 years old most every TV show
was about cowboys and indians warring, robbing stage coaches and
banks, cheating at cards, shoot em ups, rustling cattle/horses,
hangings, and even cartoons were pretty violent. Wasn't long most
every TV show featured some iconic dog who saved thye day. By 12, 13,
kids found the Discovery Channel so stopped watching the 25 cartoons
at the matinee and discovered why boys and girls were built
differently and the value of a charlot russe. By 14,15 the girl's
moms would protect their daughter's virginity, or so they thought, by
playing house with the 14,15 year old boys. Back then young moms
didn't work outside the home, and didn't drive. Their husbands were
always away and tired from working long hours, what else did those 28
year old moms have to do for entertainment... they taught the young
neighborhood boys all about playing house and didn't mind sharing the
wealth with the other deprived moms, often their sister who couldn't
become pregnant with her husband and suddenly did.
