Ok, terrible execution. But I keep hearing conflicting opinions about
why it was terrible. Either Obama was that stupid or the Republicans
ruined an initially good plan.

I guess the country's so divided that it's hard to find an objective
verdict.

And avoid declaring lots of income. If someone has their house
painted and pays cash they'll get a lower price and no one really
needs a receipt for a paint job unless it's a capital improvement for
a business... but home owners are only looking for a good price for a
good job, and for cash there's no tax.

The insurance industry pays a ton of money to make sure its interests
are protected in Washington, DC.

Follow the money. It will always lead you to the truth, however
unpleasant.

Look at the economy. Generally speaking, there isn't a lot
the President can do about the economy.* Yet people blame or
praise him for whatever happens.

*Unless he ignores a burgeoning pandemic in an effort to help
his re-election chances.

If we had "socialized" medicine, I might consider it.

My commute is 10 minutes. My boss is a software engineer, so no B.S.
I set the alarm 7 days a week for my husband's medication schedule--
and I rarely am asleep when it goes off. The dress code where I work
is more lax than my personal dress code.

It still exists although the present administration has weakened it by eliminating mandatory payments into the system and reduced incentives for the insurance companies to lower costs to the consumer. The administration has been unsuccessful in stopping ACA on Constitutional grounds so it's chipping away at it by reducing funding and making insurance harder to get.

The net result of all the hard work by the administration and the Republicans has been a rise in uninsured Americans since 2016. The reality is that universal healthcare will remain a distant dream until our government gets rid of the "public servants" that value money over people.

Yes, it's like blaming or praising the President for the weather.

Russia, Brazil and the US are now on the EU's list of countries that
have no control over Covid and can't enter. That's embarrassing

Pretty much the case. He tried to do something never done before but
good intentions turned to crap. Trump said he was going to replace it
with a better plan so it should be coming up very soon.

I think most politicians are afraid to tackle it now. No matter what
they do, half the voters will be POd.

But just the fact that you have to be there from x am until y pm...
Some people couldn't work self-employed, though. They wouldn't do
anything :) It's not for everybody.

Not Obama's fault then. Unless he was on the take from the insurance
industry.

I see these giant avocados in the supermarkets. They are huge, but
almost tasteless. They are not worth buying. Sometimes they are
sold as "california avocados".

Obamacare, could pass into law because the Democratic Party briefly
held the White House, a majority in the House of Representatives

My heating and a/c guy has a really lucrative business because he's fair,
honest, and does not cheat his customers. He told me back in the winter
when he was here his and his wife's health insurance premiums dropped
from $20,000 per to $10,000 per because he had just qualified for
Medicare.

My husband took the training to get a concealed-carry permit in
Michigan. The training covered home invasion. You can shoot
only if you feel you are in personal danger of injury or death.
Before shooting you should (or must--I can't recall) say,
"I have a gun. Get out of my house." If they still come at
you after that, you may shoot.

Of course it is not required that you say that. Depending on the
circumstances, that could leave you dead.

And you can defend the life of another, not just your own life, by using
deadly force. Just like the cops can.

Things are quite different here. You can buy a handgun. You need to get
a license to buy and own firearms, and a special on to get a handgun.
You can't carry them around. They have to be trigger locked and in a
locked case.

If you belong to a recognized gun club they can arrange for a transport
permit (ATT) for you. That will authorize you to transport it....
trigger locked and in a locked case and in the trunk... between your
residence and the range and home. Your ammunition has to be in a
separate locked case.

You can use deadly force to protect yourself, but only if it is a
reasonable use of force under the circumstances. It had better not be
done with a handgun. Given the safe storage requirements, if you had
time to go and get your gun in its locked case, and to get ammunition to
load it, then you weren't in enough danger to use lethal force.

reasonable quoting using the tradional appropriate number

inline replies i put a blank line because it is easier to

I saw a Jensen Interceptor on the street the other day. It was totally

My son used to make that when he was into low carbs. It was okay. It's just
a baked food dish. There's no reason to compare it to anything except baked
cauliflower mash with stuff on top. He also used to make spaghetti squash
with tomato sauce. Again, it is what it is. A vegetable dish with sauce.
These dishes are just fine - if you're into vegetables.

It's ok instead of rice too:))

I like rice but switched over to vegetables when we were on low-carbs. What we need is fake, low-carb, rice. That would be just swell.
