>Clear. That's why I wrote I bought a new one.

I posted as you described the problem clearly, you failed to state what
part it was that you couldn't buy. Most people don't have service contracts
on their refrigerator. As a dead defrost heater is probably the second most
common affliction of self-defrost refrigerators and freezers -- after ice
makers -- people here should recognize the problem and its fix.

Some may be ambitious enough, like I, to search the web for a parts list,
get the part number, and search to buy it. But even if not, knowing the
cause of the problem protects one against a service person that is trying
to take advantage of the customer.

Sounds like a good choice. I'd never have a fridge without an ice maker
and water dispenser.

It seems to be a N. American obsession to have ice in everything. I had
a chilled rosé with dinner this evening and I like chilled lager but the
ice-cube trays in the freezer are empty.

Same here. I wouldn't know what to do with the ice and it's not
exactly cold here most of the time. Maybe they put it in their ice
tea.

This is the shit that makes new these days other than riots,
protests, politics, and pandemics?

The answer came to me even before I finished reading the problem.

If it is a 5th grade math question you can make one conclusion of a
poorly worded question.

If it is a question of real world logic, the answer is different to a
simple question any of us should be able to answer.

Yeah, I have a couple of those. Cheap Chinese crap! Sometimes they work, sometimes not.

Honest opinion. If you have to ask a question like that on a public
form YOU are probably the failure. Does not say much for your integrity.

Someone who creates a thread for the only purpose of denigrating another person is pretty sad. What is it in your life that you only feel good about yourself if you bad mouth others?

This is one reason I don't visit here much anymore. Too much sniping.

I try to buy the smallest chickens. Every time I go to ALDI to buy milk, I look at the chickens, and only buy them if they're not much over 4 lbs. Even then, my family of 3 can't finish a whole chicken.

When I grill t-bone, I cut out the tenderloins for my wife and son. This evening, I did that, and bacon wrapped the fillets. I cooked the strip with the bone for myself, as I prefer the flavor of the strip to the lovely texture of the fillet. I still have one raw t-bone, minus the tenderloin.

Putting any meat in a microwave if it's not already well done makes it icky. Gently warming it in a pan is OK, but I'd rather have leftover steak room temp.

Microwaves do weird shit to meat that is not already well done. "Tastes funny" is accurate, but an understatement.

I only accuse myself of being fat. I am overweight. I eat too much, especially carbs. I eat too much and drink too much beer and wine. It is my own fault that I am fat, as none of my 4 siblings were ever fat.

Or just pinch your tongue between your index finger and thumb. I understand folks being hesitant to do that in the time of Covid-19, but the heat of coffee brewing will destroy the virus.
