If I really wanted I can drive to points about five miles from the sea
in about 1 1/2 hours and bring an ice chest. But every 2-3 months
friends from Coney Island and Brighton Beach visit and if I asked
they'd bring fresh shrimp. I think if I searched I could find a local
fish monger nearby who sells fresh shrimp in the Catskills. Wasn't
difficult at all and I live about an hour's drive south of Albany, NY
in the Northern Catskills.
Thing is I never looked as shrimp is not one of my favorites... I
don't eat lobster either. I can have all the real maple syrup I want
for free, neighbors are always offering, but I really don't like maple
syrup. I do take their honey, that's a favorite. Sometimes I sweeten
my coffee with honey, also good drizzled on melon, I grow melons.

I live next to the ocean and we have some shrimp farms down the road from us. Most of the shrimp I buy is from S. America or from Southeast Asia. I don't know why there's no local shrimp in the markets.

Perhaps the local shrimp all go to restaurant kitchens. Perhaps there are
no local shrimp in the markets for the same reason it can be difficult to find
local produce in supermarkets on the mainland: the supermarket relies on
a consistent supply chain.

I would take honey, maple syrup and melons.

You did say you only "like" fresh not frozen which made me think you
actually like shrimp. I buy flash frozen shrimp in off season. When
it is bay shrimping season I get them that are still jumping. No
question not the same as frozen. Part of the year I stay about 4
blocks from the shrimp dock. Mostly small boats for bay shrimping run
by Vietnamese families. No lobsters here but of course you can get 'em
live in the tank which I do for special occasion. Around Valentines
day some markets have a sale. I like shrimp better than lobster though.
Seafood is a favorite. Last night we poached a nice chunk of halibut
in butter and shallots with a glug of white wine. Finished the
remaining white wine with it. Delicious.

It was like that at one point in time, especially during her early
on-line schooling when the pandemic started. My ex-girlfriend lived
here during that time and watched her when I wasn't home. I would, of
course, do it again, but I'm alone now and I can't leave her alone home
at 7 years old when I have to work. Might be a different story in 5+
years from now.

I had to check on "anti vaxxer movement beginning" and I discovered
that it began a couple centuries ago. There's no dening that modern
technology of the Internet has helped the movement along.

NO NO NO. Some Hollywood celebrities took up the cause so it must be
credible. I'm not going to believe some doctor I don't know when the
very smart Hollywood stars know the truth.

Just plain litres? Or special American litres, which equate to .79
real litres aka 14.7 fl.ozzes if you measure volume or 17.34 litres if
you measure weight, further depending on the state?

Did they get that as a child or because the mother got measles during
pregnancy?

Speaking of, I'm posting a picture from the local paper the other day.
"Couple celebrates 50 years marriage"... and they have 8 children and 34
grandchildren, great-grandchildren... all the way to 3X great
grandchildren.

That is 6 generations of family! I hope that they got a photo of all
generations together. They must have already been grandparents when
they were wed in 1971, and each generation must have started having
children by 16 years old for that to be possible.

In all honestly, it's quite impressive how they've managed. The folks
in the picture look like they are less than 80 years old. If they can
hold out another generation, I'm pretty sure that they are set to make a
record (or break one, if they can hold out 2 more generations).

Duck breast seared in its own fat, sliced, and served with sauteed cabbage
or something like that would be nice.

You are planning too ADD a bit of the vital wheat gluten to your
regular flour, right? You don't use it all by itself. It wil
basicallyl turn to wet rubber.
