But you hung in there, you saw it through, you did what you had to do to see it through, and you did it Anka-style - you did it YOUR WAY.

I try to snip some out so it's easier to read in the future, and just
leave enough text there to get an idea what the next post is based on.

Now then, Anka-style, such as Paul?? I think you mean Sinatra style, if
that was the song reference that I thought it was. Did Anka do that
song? Either way, I think Sinatra did the original. Of course, I can't
prove that. Both sang the song LONG before my time. Both are great
singers, either way!

Sinatra was a puppet, always singing other people's songs. Sinatra and
Elvis... puppets. Sinatra also saved Robert Wagner's ass after he
murdered Natalie Wood. Yes, quite the hero, this Sinatra.

To be fair, I was a beginner driver, 18 years old at the time, at most.
I merged into traffic, and he was in my blind spot. Yes, my fault.
He laid on the horn, high beams, etc. I ignored him... I think I even
waved out the window "sorry". Well he left his high beams on for a mile
or two, and honked every now and again. I should have left, but I
eventually cut into the other lane, slowed down, got behind him with my
high beams, horn, etc... it just went from there for several miles.
That was the accurate account to the best of my memory, trying not to
skew it. We were both in the wrong, but I think that he was more in the
wrong.

> I couldn't believe it, I was gaining on the guy. And as that happened I began to wonder why I'm chasing the guy, I know I'm not going to do anything. As I'm gaining on the guy and his stupid sports coat is coming clearer into my view I realized something funny, and laughed inwardly at it - that this was the very first time in my life that I was involved in a chase where I was not the one being chased. I got up real close to the guy and yelled, "I'm going to kill you", and watched as he kicked it into another gear he himself may not have known he had. It was funny, the different thoughts swimming through my brain during the needless chase. But it was not entirely needless as I got gratitude out of it in some way. Thanks for reading.

That was a crazy story... might not have gotten your money, but at least
you have the memories, stories, etc.

Finally the Karma official takes control of the situation by spinning around in faster and faster in a hard tight circle till he is so dizzy he can't see straight. Then he points to one of the wannabe fighters and says, "Ok, you first. What happened?" Both drivers get to give their version.

> "I can't settle on a verdict on such stance info", the Karma official says, "So we're going to leave this one up to fate." Then he pulls a wireless microphone from his pocket and intones Micael Buffer style, "Ok Gentlemen, let's get ready to rumble", as the crowd shouts approval. Yes, Karma intervened in this one. I will not reveal the results of the rumble. But one guy died, beaten to death in front of a wildly entertained crowd. It was Karma at play - for someone.

I get the feeling that there are a lot more Goetz types than we want to
know about. They get themselves a side arm and then fearlessly get into
dangerous situations with the idea that they might get to use a gun to
defend themselves. A wiser person would choose to retreat or to
de-escalate.

My father is a target rifle shooter, as well as his father before him.
I have shot his rifle at a range, but I never got into the sport. He
kept his rifle unloaded, in it's case, in the closet. Ammunition was
kept elsewhere. As kids, we never though to go and touch the rifle. I
currently own a small 22 cal rifle that was my late grandfather's. Dad
tested it for me, but I don't have any ammo.

I imagine any state would allow you to shoot back after the
attacker shot first. I don't carry a gun, but if I did, I would
sure as hell fire back after being fired on.

Ed rightfully criticises 'Bruce', so that's all it take for the idiot
to dislike Ed. It's as simple as that. She's exhibited this behavior

She lacks a brain, she only has a brain *stem*...

She's like "Mike the Headless Chicken" - except that Mike had some real *value*, lol...!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Headless_Chicken

"Mike the Headless Chicken (April 20, 1945 – March 17, 1947) was a male
Wyandotte chicken that lived for 18 months after his head had been cut off.
After the loss of his head, Mike achieved national fame until his death in
March 1947. In Fruita, Colorado, an annual "Mike the Headless Chicken Day" is held every May.

On September 10, 1945, farmer Lloyd Olsen of Fruita, Colorado, was planning
to eat supper with his mother-in-law and was sent out to the yard by his wife
to bring back a chicken. Olsen chose a five-and-a-half-month-old Wyandotte
chicken named Mike. The axe removed the bulk of the head, but missed the
jugular vein, leaving one ear and most of the brain stem intact.

Due to Olsen's failed attempt to behead Mike, the chicken was still able to balance
on a perch and walk clumsily. He attempted to preen, peck for food, and crow, though
with limited success; his "crowing" consisted of a gurgling sound made in his throat.
When Mike did not die, Olsen instead decided to care for the bird. He fed it a mixture
of milk and water via an eyedropper, and gave it small grains of corn and worms

Fame

Once his fame had been established, Mike began a career of touring sideshows in
the company of such other anomalies as a two-headed baby. He was also photographed
for dozens of magazines and papers, and was featured in Time and Life magazines.

Mike was put on display to the public for an admission cost of 25 cents. At the height
of his popularity, the chicken's owner earned $4,500 per month (equivalent to $52,156
in 2020); Mike was valued at $10,000 (equivalent to $115,902 in 2020)..."

I recall her saying that her poor family pulled her from school and sent
her to work. Regardless, you are looking at this the wrong way.

I think the point of the video is more of to bring up the terrible
working conditions and low, low pay in many foreign countries... the
major cell companies could stop this, but they'd rather be that much
more rich.

That I don't know, but what I can say, is thank God for first-world
countries (even though you don't seem to think that the US is one),
where Children are no longer sent into a mine with a canary.

Samsung, Apple, etc. -- the companies who buy these phone parts from
China, could put pressure on them to force higher pay and better
conditions for their workers, and in turn could double, triple, or more
what they pay for the parts, which would be a small hit to their profit
margin, CEO's pay, etc. The cell companies could do better, but they
don't care.

I have a basic AT&T landline with no features or long distance. Well, I
pay TCI Long distance 5 cents per minute, about an hour of LD per month
is billed at $5 or so; not to shabby.

I pay per minute on my cell, but I don't like it. You'll never beat the
landline reliability. If you can live without call ID, call waiting,
cut those services. I'd sooner ditch my cell than the land line.

With no features/long distance, I pay AT&T about 41/mo for the land
line. www.tcild.com <-- I probably pay the same total as you, once you
factor in LD usage.

Verizon has been saying since 2019 that they are shutting down 2/3G.
Remains to be seen, but they won't activate phones that aren't 4G now.
Anyone that says 5G is mandated is scamming you.

AT&T has shut down 3G and below. Sprint is part of T-Mobile now, and
T-Mobile is shutting down 3G this summer. Any 3G phone will continue to
work on 2G, which T-Mobile is shutting down at the end of 2022, but they
might extend it again. Basically all other phone companies run off of
the 3 big networks for their service in the US.
