I watched a PBS documentary recently of the history of mince pies. Hundreds of years ago, they were all meat and savory. Modern mince pies are more fruity and more like dessert pies. |

Yes. The replaced the broken bottles. I was pretty angry but kept my cool and firmly reminded her that I had questioned the strength of the bag and was assured it was strong enough. I just had a look at LCBO's return policy and it looks like they no longer replace broken bottles. I had a similar sort of incident with a case of beer from a local craft brewery. My wife had picked up a case of 24 of my favourite beer from Oast House. They put them in a flat case. When she took it out of the car the carton collapsed and all the cans hit the driveway. Eleven of them were punctured and the contents blew out or seeped out. She and I were both very disappointed. I took the cardboard and the punctured cans back and talked to the owner. I explained what had happened and blamed it on the way they packaged the product citing the flimsy cardboard flat. She gave me a dozen cans.... 3 four packs. |

My guess is that the other 50% will wish they did. It kind of a awful position to be in. OTOH, I can't say if this is actually true. |

It was suggested that you eat four mouthfuls of unseasoned (steamed) rice for every oneof highly seasoned topping. Yin/Yang. (I omitted 2 T oil). [Lucinda] Combine ginger, garlic, black beans and red pepper flakes in a small bowl; cover and set aside. Blend stock, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar together in a second bowl. Bring large pot of water to a rolling boil. Fill a large bowl with ice water. Blanch cauliflower 1 minute, then plunge into the ice water. Repeat with remaining vegetables, letting water in the pot return to a boil before adding a fresh batch. Blanch the carrots for 15 seconds, and the zucchini for 5 seconds. Drain the vegetables well and place in separate bowls. Heat a wok or large heavy skillet over high heat until hot enough to a drop of water on contact. Add water (about 2 T) and swirl to glaze pan. Because you substituted water for oil, at this point you have a dry pan. Cindy Hamilton |

The 'Heechee' series is 6 books which should be read in proper order. Similarly the 'Eschaton' trilogy. 'Black Star Rising' is an excellent singleton. |
