The idea that one is infallible is delusion/vanity/ignorance. Forgetting to put a car in gear when parking probably increases the older one gets, right? The old farts even forget which pedal is the brake and which is the accelerator. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Jtorxz3Q9m559Ym49 |

That thing is a heck of a gas guzzler (as turbo super-chargers usually are). My mom had a V6 Mustang LX. It was an automatic and enjoyable to drive. I've never driven a heavy American car with a manual. The cars I used to own were 4 cylinder cars weighing 1,700 to 2,200 lbs. I did have a Alfa Romeo that weighed 2,600 lbs. I thought that was way overweight. These days a Toyota Corolla will weigh more than that. |

OTOH, AI and the machines will probably get rid of humans on the planet a lot faster than a change in temperature ever could. AI technology will not progress at the same rate that humans are used to. It won't take years but months. It will accelerate at an ever increasing speed: from days to minutes to seconds. It's hard to believe that you spend more on cooling than heating, but with your well insulated house, perhaps that makes sense. Even on minimalist mode, I spend over $200/mo in natural gas every January (it was more mild this year). I figure that it would cost less to cool my house than it does to heat it, but I don't plan on installing central air to find out. > 80-something is no kind of temperature for April. The average is > 60. True, but I'd be happy with 80-something year round with windows open (low humidity) -- but that's just personal preference. The nice weather tease made it worse, because my house has now leveled back out to 60 degrees, and I'm colder now. It's nice that it maintained 10+ degrees over that for about 24 hours, without the boiler kicking on. |

I suppose that everyone has their own tolerance. Even with an average indoor temperature of mid 70's F a few days ago, I was still sleeping under two comforters with the window open. It has to be mid 80's and humid for me to ditch the comforters. |

There was a bat flapping and crawling up the street next to my house a couple of weeks ago. I found that odd, but of course I had the sense to not touch it. A few years ago, I found a hawk standing on the side of the road. It seemed very tame; I suspect that it was injured or a lost pet. I risked it and touched the bird; he kept backing up, but didn't fight me. The poor thing was probably a lost pet; possibly also injured. Now I can say that I've touched a hawk. Actually, I still have a picture of the little guy. That's kind of nifty. I'm assuming he's a hawk; I don't know. Maybe a bird person here knows (Jill?): https://postimg.cc/B84rJCSg |

Sometimes these people will have a friend with a car and a Costco card they can tag along with to get a deal, and that is a role I've played more than once. However, the "frugal college students sharing a small dorm, or home share with 8 immigrant workers sleeping on the floor, bands together to make a Costco run with a friend's card" is not remotely representative of how these demographics find deals. The average Costco shopper is a 38 year-old married Asian American woman. |
