Agree. Although I don't put salt in everything that I cook or make, I do put
it in most things, even if it is only a pinch. My mom cooked without salt
for the most part, telling if we wanted salt to add it at the table. That
simply does not work. Would be better to err on the side of not quite enough
salt when cooking and then add more. IMO, the salt needs to be cooked in. If
you put none in and add it later, the food just tastes of salt.

Not at all healthful. Constantly eating all that preserved crap will
greatly shorten your life. Don't you ever eat any fresh veggies...
those friggin' pickles don't count.
We ate a huge garden salad for dinner tonight, have leftovers for
lunch tomorrow.

I forgot to mention I added the spinach I'd forgotten in the quiche to
the tomato sauce. Used in the lasagna.

Hamburgers, raw baby carrots, spicy olives, dill pickles sliced tomato
and onion, and a beer.

I stopped at the Italian market this morning to pick up cold cuts,
cheeses, and freshly baked rolls. I made a sandwich with hard salami,
mortdella, capocollo, soppressata, provalone, and raschera, along with
some lettuch and spicy mustard. On the side, some pepperoncini and oil
cured olives and US potato chips.

David had a grilled cheeseburger and home fried potatoes.

Not really. Steve did find Andy's obituary. If you want proof he had
problems, I can tell you. Andy was calling me constantly, in some sort
of manic-depressive state. He seemed to think I was his girlfriend. I
never met the man in my life. One day he called just to ask my middle
name. I don't have one. "How come I find Jill M. McQuown when I do a
search?" Uh... I don't know. And why the heck are you Googling me?

For a while, he called me several times a day. Sometimes just minutes
apart. He'd be all Sad Sak when I wouldn't answer the phone. He'd
leave me long, rambling messages. One minute he was "oh... guess you
don't ever want to talk to me again". Then he'd call back all bright
and cheery, "Hey! How are you! Just wanted to say hi!"

He would not listen when I politely asked him to stop. I emailed him,
asked him to stop. He didn't reply to the email. I finally had to call
him out about it here on RFC.

There was definitely something wrong with him. It's not a huge leap to
suspect he killed himself. He probably needed to be on some sort of
medication.

Not surprising. He used to go to chat and would be hitting on the women
and then freaked out when they ignored him.

Even people with mental problems can have heart attacks.

Whether he did or didn't, I know there was something wrong with Andy.
What about that bread he squished because the store didn't have exactly
what he wanted?

Don't forget him calling me on the phone. He had some delusion that I
was his girlfriend. Never mind I stopped answering my phone. He'd
leave long rambling messages... Sometimes up, sometimes down.

The guy had problems.

I think I'd given up RFC chat by then! :)

He had bouts of anger, I know that. I don't think he was at all a
stable person.

-Squishing bread.
-Calling McBiddy on the phone.

Ok, it must have been suicide.

I got along with him just fine for a long time. But then he went off on me
for some reason. Can't remember why now. I think he took something that I
said and twisted it into something else and then went all hateful on me.
IIRC, this was not long before he died.

True and I think he did have medical problems although I can't recall now
what they were.

I had a charcuterie cheese plate.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/sqwertz/34192413222/in/photostream/lightbox/

Clockwise: Fromager d'Affinois cheese, Roquefort cheese, pickled
Vienna snausages, braunschweiger, garlic and dill peperoncini, sweet
horseradish gherkins, Tassos double-stuffed olives, roasted and
marinated yellow peppers, pepperoni, salami and herbed cream cheese
rollups, and some mustard horseradish sauce.

Everything went very well together.

Preservatives make you live *longer*, duh. And who says I'm
constantly eating this? You'll see what I want you to see. No more
and no less. And when I want your opinion I'll give you one.

The OP does not want to know how to melt butter. What he actually wanted to
know is how to melt a small quantity of coconut oil. He only said "butter"
because he assumed that coconut oil would be something the folks here would
be unfamiliar with. This was a serious mistake because the subject of
butter: the how, what, and why, has pretty much dominated the thread. Had he
just stated what he wanted, all this could have been avoided.

---

I see that now. coconut oil is much easier to melt. Just run the jar under
some hot water near the top. Won't take long for a teaspoon of it to melt.
And he will soon find out as the weather warms (unless perhaps he has AC in
the kitchen) that it will be liquid then.

Fair enough, nothing wrong with personal choice. OTOH, I rarely have a
drink without food or a snack.

If I'm thirsty, water is the #1 choice. Beer is for pizza or a
sandwich. Steak calls for a good red wine, but bourbon goes well with
it too.

I think wine and pizza are a great combo. Wine and most foods,
actually. I've never tried liquor with food. That would seem to clash.

Oh yes, wish I was there. Great combo. Of course it was good because
you know enough to open the bottle well before serving too.

Hi Jill,

We're not big beer drinkers here, and so forgot to put more beer in the
fridg, but they found the 6 cans that were there, lol. Plenty of soft
drinks around though. It's okay. The shortest drive home was 50 miles, the
longest around 75. No drinking & driving!
