Presbyopia.

I've worn glasses since I was 10 years old. I tried multifocal lenses but
I wasn't entirely happy with them so I went back to single-vision lenses.

Our health care system has been totally UNDERwhelmed the past six
months. They could have handled more cases, which would have prevented
those people from being cases NOW. They bunched up the curve, and at
great cost. Stupid.

Is Australia testing as much as the US? Is Australia using excessive
cycling in their testing, as is being done in the US, leading to many
fake "cases"? Are their gunshot deaths in Australia that are attributed
to the virus, as in the US?

They're testing a lot in Sydney and Melbourne. They don't find very
many cases, but one case could become many cases, of course.

I haven't heard of fake cases.

i can check out e-books from the library directly but they
also have a stand-alone site for the consortium that i can
log into using the library card number and name of the library.

the library interface is a pain in the butt as it times out
searches pretty quickly and if i get called away in the middle
of something then i have to come back and start it all over
again.

My mom was within two weeks of being 39 when I was born and my dad was
within two weeks of being 49. My oldest brother was 19 years and 7 months
old when I was born, second brother was 15 when I popped out. Other brothers
were 4 and 5 years old when I made my appearance.

i'm highly unlikely to date a fertile woman. as i get older
the thought actually terrifies me. :) as i definitely do not
want children, ever.

i suppose if somehow i were to happen to find someone young
enough i'd probably use that as a reason to get snipped.

strange to me, the shortbread cookies here are firm enough they
won't bend, but they don't really stick much either that you'd
need a spatula to remove them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! They've gained no more square footage to
that bathroom or powder room. They've lost valuable storage space as you
mentioned. Also, countertop real estate as well.

the best water i've had in my life was from the place i
rented in eastern TN, it was so clean you could run the
shower and let it air dry and there wouldn't be any
marks on the wall. here if i let things air dry there
are spots from the calcium/iron. after many uses the
glass will start to look yellow from the iron. a bit
of chemicals removes that and then they look ok again
for a while.

the next best water i had was up north where the local
municipality sourced their water from an old abandoned
copper mine. after some years they switched over to
wells sited in a rather rotten place and the water was
much worse. progress... heh, nope, not that time...

No, use your your favorite search engine.

Awhile ago I wanted to know how much calcium was in heavy whipping
cream. I didn't ask a cow, I used the internet to answer that question.

What's a search engine?

Only because the cow doesn't know.

there is (or perhaps was now) a chain of restaurants in MI called
Branns which has a sizzling steak like that. we go a few times a
year.

In the Netherlands, our neighbourhood would change into a war zone at
midnight, and we didn't even have a Chinese restaurant nearby. In
Australia private fireworks are not allowed.

So much for freedom.

I suppose they're not allowed in fire-prone areas in the U.S., either.
Michigan is pretty juicy, so the laws here are relatively liberal.

Australia can be a bit of a nanny state. On the other hand, hospitals
in the Netherlands would always report how many people lost fingers,
hands and eyes on New Year's Eve. I'm not sure what's better.

These days, Sinterklaas won't just kidnap your ass and take you back to Spain - he'll kill you.

Yes, terrible. As if these old people really needed to see
Sinterklaas, no matter how demented they were. This was in Belgium by
the way, not in the Netherlands.
