This was some old Chinese guy selling filled meat buns and what would be called dim sum on the mainland. He didn't have a horse. He had to carry large tin cans of food using a bamboo pole on his shoulder. Using a horse would be way too easy. He looks very happy though:)) Most people don't know about that manapua man. When I was a kid, I saw that guy come down our street a couple of times. Beats the heck out of me what he was doing there. Our street was in the middle of nowhere. He must have been lost! :) The manapua man that most people know these days now drives a food truck. We were lucky because we've always had a manapua truck stop right in front of our condo. How perfect is that? Mostly I'd get steamed buns filled with pork, little steamed pork hash, friend chicken, crispy won ton, and a can of soda. The kids would get candy and ice cream. Those old guys carrying the metal cans had a hard life. Even today, with the food trucks, it's still a very hard life. but those guys make our lives on this rock pretty darn awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAa0aGv3b-Q |

Also new to me is the occupation of the culturally British island of Guernsey by the Germans during WWII. The potato peel pie was in response to the terrible food shortages during the occupation. songbird <songbird@anthive.com>: Jan 12 12:38AM -0500 which would you prefer flour fried with butter based or corn starch based? i have all the ingredients and i've made both kinds before and i prefer the flour and butter kind. or is there some other method/ingredients you'd use to make chocolate pudding? Mom brought home five more bananas and we'll need to eat them up sooner rather than later and one way she will eat them is if they're sliced in chocolate pudding. and, yes, my google isn't broken, but i thought it an interesting topic for the group. songbird |

There's no eggs and it's not set by heat. Just heat the mix until it starts to boil and cook for about a minute. That's it. Super fast and it makes the best creme brulee ever. It's a German product. https://store.bakerscandc.com/creme-brulee-mix-35oz-14666 |

She says > it is always a disappointment to find that they don't taste like peaches. i love peaches, apricots, mangoes, and, well a lot of other fruits besides, but we don't really get very good ones that often. the best fruit i get here are the strawberries i grow and the blueberries when they come in season, but this past year the blueberries were really bad quality-wise. i think due to the virus the pickers just weren't experienced or paid well or whatever it was but they just were ick too much of the time. we still ate them, but i had to work through the cartons a lot to get the decent berries apart from the others that were in bad shape. one carton was so bad it had fruit fly maggots in it, but i got the apart and we ate what we could. anyways, back to mangoes, yeah, i could eat a lot more of them than i do now. > heart healthy meals I have been making lately have mango, like the Thai > themed chicken and mango salad, and the mango avocado salsa for salmon > and trout. nah, i'd have to do the salsa on the side as a chutney instead. i don't really want those on the fish as it would mask too much of the flavor of the fish. songbird |

The mango here during mango season are large and totally awesome. I think the smell comes from the tree sap. Some mango are strong with that taste and some are not. I can understand your disdain for it. I don't like that smell in olive oil. My parents have a tree at their house. One day, I'd like to build a tree house in that strange, low, tree. https://photos.app.goo.gl/z25ceZnwmLW8mycF6 |

Pay closer attention, Hank. You only noticed him being an ass-hole himself, but he actually accomplished a double sniff which you completely missed. I thought you were the expert on this, but it appears that you need some mentoring. Try reading his words backwards in slow motion; you'll see. |
