If I didn't need Windows for work purposes, I'd have switched to Linux
a very long time ago. Maybe if I ever retire. But in the meantime, I
don't have many problems with Windows. I only keep losing a network
printer after every second Windows 10 update.

Since my OS's are all antiques and are no longer supported , I just
use an offline updater and load justthe ones I want . I'm already
retired so the only problem I'll have is retraining my wife to the new
OS . Actually the learning curve should be easy , the Ubuntu GUI is very
much like Windows .

Unfortunately W10 downloaded while I was out, near as I can figure
likely the cat walked over the keyboard when it was asking to download
as I was out! I am used to it now, though I have Internet Exploder
turned off and use FireFox, I also have Windows Defender switched off
and use ccleaner and malware bytes.

If you upgrade your tablet, try a Samsung with Android, sure you would
like it. There is a whole new Android update in the works I hear as
well.

What OS ? Do a web search ! I did and discovered that for certain W10
does NOT turn the comp completely off - by default . There is a way to
turn that feature off though , I did not know that . Nothing newer than
W7 (all Pro or Ultimate , all 64 bit except one old laptop) here , and I
plan to keep it that way as long as possible . When it becomes
unavoidable I'll switch to one of the Linux based OS's . Probably Ubuntu
since I've played around with that one some .

Lipton Noodle Soup Mix? Yumm!

Enriched Egg Noodles [Wheat Flour, Eggs, Niacin, Iron, Thiamine
Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid],
Maltodextrin, Salt, Corn Syrup (Dehydrated), Monosodium Glutamate,
Chicken Fat, Chicken Powder, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil,
Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Cornstarch, Yeast Extract, Parsley
(Dehydrated), Chicken Broth (Dehydrated), Disodium Inosinate, Disodium
Guanylate, Turmeric, Natural Flavors, Spices.

And no glass of wine with that for Gary. Wine would interfere with the
delicate flavour of the soup!

I think Damsel spoiled the idea of split pea soup for me a couple of
decades ago by insisting it should have pepperoni added to it. IIRC she
shared a pic and it looked like very greasy green glop. :(

Whose husband is Greg talking about? I divorced mine in 1984.

I remember many posts where she said her husband didn't like or wouldn't
eat what she cooked. He'd pick up something on his way home from work.
If she did happen upon something everyone liked, she'd cook a whole
bunch of it. Then she'd complain because they didn't want to eat the
same thing day after day. Variety is *not* her forte.

The one and only recipe I recall Bruce posting was for canned mackerel

Nothing wrong with cooked salmon bones in the can. They are so soft that
if you bite into one you probably would not even notice.

Funny, but when you see real dancers they tend to be slender and fit.
Then there is Julie and her alleged dancer daughter who don't fit the
stereotype.

The antithesis of ballet or other choreographed dancers. Ballet dancers
do tend to be slender and fit. Male or female, it's rigorous work and
burns off a lot of calories. I've never seen a fat professional ballet
dancer.

I like them with canned mackerel or with canned salmon, so we have
either. Should I avoid canned mackerel because it's cheap? What kind
of snobby nonsense is that?

Besides, this whole newsgroup is built on cheap. Chicken wings for
$.95c a pound, cow's ass for $.75 a pound, armadillo dicks for $.10c a
piece, insecticide-ridden Walmart vegetables, GM corn, xanthan gum
concoctions etc. You're all a bunch of tightwads from hell :)

Years and years. We all heard the tales about how he was never there or
he picked up something to eat on the way home. The writing was on the
wall when she kept posting about how no one would eat what she cooked.
All the failures. Her "champions" tend to ignore or conveniently forget
those posts. Meanwhile, if I choose to steam veggies it's somehow an
abomination. Go figure.

Is that what they call molida in Washington? Here it would be ground
beef tacos or tostada. I thought you were doing something with more
elaborate seasonings.

Most people who cook Mexican serve with a bottle of hot sauce, this
way each can add how much heat they like or add none.

True, Sheldon, but my point was commercial chili powder is bland. I
have jarred ground ancho (smoky and slightly hot) and chipotle (not hot
but tasty) on hand to add more *oomph* (not necessarily heat) to a
commercial chili powder blend. I always have hot sauce on hand in the
fridge.

You can season it however you want. It just means ground beef.
