Yeah. He does not appear to be eating enough protein to keep a fly alive.

Hopefully the area in and around John's house isn't swarming with flies.

Beans and rice, for breakfast and dinner, normally. Supplants for meat, which I ate too often anyway.

And don't talk to me about Nutrition! I'm an RN, BSN, remember?

And I'm about to have my lunch! Bagel with cheese, lettuce and an apple!

When I'm hungry, I eat good!

United Statesians tend to eat way too much meat anyway! And do lots of stupid stuff, like NoT buying electric cars and eschewing plastics and using way too many Fossil Fuels!

Nope! We have an ant problem, but we try and keep that under control.

Why is eschewing plastics stupid?

I used to be almost fluent in French and could get by in German. I have
lost both because I never get a chance to use it. I had a friend who
was born and raised in Quebec and his first language was French but he
lost the French. My best friend has a similar background. He lived in a
French only region of Quebec and moved here when he was 10 and spoke no
English when we he started school here. When he started flying for a
living his first job was back in his home town so he picked it up again.
His wife had been looking forward to learning French but he told her
not to because the French there is so bad.

You seem to have big self esteem issues.
Here on the mainland, in all of my lifetime, Hawaiians are
considered the coolest of cool people. No issue about the
off-white color.

Everybody wants to be you and live in such a paradise.
That explains your amazing tourist trade.

There's French and then there is Quebecois.

I used to have a full head of ginger hair. I always combed it in the
same simple style without realizing that it was disappearing under what
eventually became a comb-over. I was about 30 when, on getting out of
the shower, I really saw the state of my hair and promptly had it cut.
Therefore, I never condemn, nor mock those who have a comb-over.
The trouble with being bald is that, despite always wearing a hat, I
have to see a dermatologist regularly and next month will have surgery
for a basal cell carcinoma.

I know what I am having!!! My elder daughter just dropped off my
Mothers Day gift, they were at a dock when a fisherman came in and he
agreed to sell them a beautiful fresh out of the water, halibut steak!
It's a lovely translucent white and it will taste like manna.

My D-I-L's birthday is next week and as they can't go out to a
restaurant, my son has asked me to make her favourite dish, the seadood
lasagne that has become a xmas tradition.
The trouble is that the supermarket where I usually buy the fresh sole
fillets, has had several covid cases among the staff. I might have to
compromise and buy the damned frozen "Product of China" instead:-(

If my electricity goes out the landline still works. Not the cordless
ones, but the base unit does. (I'm required to have a landline for the
security system.)

I prefer my landline, the sound is superior to any cell phone plus it
doesn't fade out as someone is driving or otherwise moving about...
when people call me on their cell phone and it fades out so I can only
hear part of that they are saying I hang up.

Another annoying thing is that if I succumb and buy a big flat screen*,
I won't be able to donate this perfectly good, if bulky set to any
charity. These days, they will only accept flat screen models. I always
thought that beggars can't be choosers but they are now very picky!

*My son's electronics company means that I will be able to get one
wholesale.

I've been watching the PBS Nature 'Spy in the Wild' series. Animal
robots! :)

I was watching that last night. Very cool show.
Many spy cam robot animals.
Did you see the baby gorilla one?
Those gorilla's were really checking it out and
the silver back (leader) had to approve it as a
new member first. Then he did.

They had spy everything animals on that show.
Hippo's, turtles, birds, on and on.
Even spy turtle eggs. lol

It's amazing what they can do. Did you see the spy squirrel with the
spy nut? An actual squirrel stole it! LOL

It's a little creepy, though. Makes me think of that 1973 movie
'WestWorld' (Yul Brenner).

Even if you had frozen it then thawed it and kept it in the fridge it
would be just fine a week later. :)

Wish I could find some locally made sausage like that. :)
