We don't think it's "the basics". We barely think food and shelter
are "the basics".

We're not unable to organize "the basics". We're unwilling.

Guess I didn't make my point correctly.
I don't mind paying for insurance.

My car and renter's insurance only goes up a little each year
as I don't make any claims. If I did, I would expect them
to go up more.

Health insurance is another animal. If I had used it some
then I would expect the premiums to go up. Even not using
it, I would expect a slight increase each year but...

The health insurance premiums (and deductibles) kept rising
at an insane rate even though I cost them nothing.

Started out at $87 per month and $100 annual deductible
Only 12 years later it had progressively risen to
$427 per month and $750 deductible.

And that with no claims ever. I paid for insurance. I
paid the occasional doctors. I paid full price for any
prescriptions. Insurance paid for nothing.

The increase in premiums and deductible amount was not right.

Yeah, I agree.

No, you have that backwards. Make health insurance INSURANCE for big
stuff, perhaps with different levels of coverage - you pick the one you
want to pay for. Make people pay for the little stuff, and there will
be a lot less little stuff, and more consumerism for the little stuff.
You can encourage Health Savings Accounts, etc. to help people pay for
stuff, but if it is their money they are spending, they will be a lot
more prudent.

Nobody was injured. It was a fairly minor accident. She got
a ticket for "following too close." She rear ended a Ford
Taurus.

I drove to the accident site after a friend called me so
I saw the two cars involved. The car she hit had a very
minor dent and a broken tail light. Front of my volvo
looked like an accordion. WTF?

Volvos advertize their safety feature. Made to break away
and give more in a front or rear collision.
It cushions the impact and probably does prevent many
injuries. Problem though is a minor thing will destroy
your car.

Again, I bought it on a Friday and got it registered
and put libility insurance only on it.

That evening, I was outside cleaning it up and talking
to a neighbor. He was shocked when I told him I paid
$1500 for it. That evening, I looked up on a used car
website and discovered it had a book value of $6500.

So I told my daughter, we won't drive this car until
Monday when I can add the full coverage. I called and
added the better insurance Monday morning. That
evening after work, I drove to a friends house and
washed it and finished cleaning it up. Lots of
dumb stickers on the windows.

Went to work the next morning (in my van) and about 2pm, my
daughter called and asked if she could use it to drive
her friend home (friend had spent the night here).

She only made it a little over a mile from home and
the dumbass rear-ended a car.

Bottom line:
Friday: Bought it for $1500 and only bought liability ins.
Monday: Added full coverage
Tuesday: She crashed it.

After my $100 deductible, I got a check for $6400.
I made a profit of $4900 in 4 days.
NOT a good way to make money though. Luckily, I had
a long term policy with "Nationwide" and they had
a "first time forgiveness" policy so my insurance
didn't go up.

I loved the car and wanted to get it fixed but the
insurance guy said once we total a car, your title
will be marked as "wrecked and salvaged" so little
resale value in the future. Also, since they totaled
it and paid for it, they wouldn't insure it again.

Ok, so I took the money.

Pic of cute Volvo the day I bought it and before I
removed all the stupid stickers on windows.
Yeah...that's my old work van parked next to it.

Turkey pastrami can be quite tasty if you don't think of it as pastrami.

Classic bully behavior is to blame the person they're harassing so that mostly proves my point. Bullies will seek out people they see as not being able to defend themselves. It angers them. Why is that? Perhaps they see themselves as weak and defenseless. Perhaps they are cowards.

Harassing people is never good behavior and is an indicator of a weakness of character. Now that's what I call good advice. Of course, you're free to avoid good advice. Yoose gets the last word.

Oh please, cry me a river. Some people simply cannot wait to come here and
tell their life history and their stupid decisions and then wonder why
they fail. They act like stupidity is a virtue and we should be in awe
of them.

Look I will give you most likely the most accurate information about
airfryers that you can ever find.

It is like the microwave, the first ones were not powerful and they
were gimmick appliances.
I am telling you now that airfryers are the best cooking appliance
since the knife. Yeah that long ago.

But only for certain people. For singles it is better than sliced
bread. Married couples it can be great also. Three people would be the
limit and four people it would be hard to cook enough food.

Let me ask you do you have the basket fryer or do you have an airfryer
oven?

With the airfryer oven you can fry, bake, steam, broil, roast, toast
dehydrate, preserve, pickle and I am sure there are a few others. I
can put a pot of stew in a small dutch oven and use the airfryer oven
to cook it.

The only draw back really is that it is hard to boil water. You would
not boil water in an oven would you? Well of course not it would be a
waste of power and take much longer.
You can however make boiled eggs in an airfryer faster than you can
with water because you do not need to heat up the water because you do
not even need to use water.

If you want healthy airfryer recipes go here. It is a new site and
there are not many recipes there yet but some will be added often!

I'm in FL with a tile roof and I use Spray and Forget to deal with the
mildew that naturally forms.  It also has the hose-end sprayer but the
cool thing is it is applied on a dry day and keeps working for about a
year.  You have to wet your plants before, and after, the application as
a precaution.  It's not cheap but you don't have to apply it again for a
very long time.

Wet and Forget is another.  I use that on the fence in a pump sprayer.
It works the same way and lasts just as long.

It sounds very similar to the Armor Wash and it also says to spray down
plants first. So, what you use lets the sun and rain eliminate the
mildew, or do I have that backward?

I was quite impressed with the ease and results of this product.

It will be interesting to see how long it is before I have to do this again.
I'm hoping for not another two years but it's not a hard project to do.

I guess you just haven't walked past the right people yet. I hear
your county is really blooming with cases. We'll stop screwing around
with this covid-19 sooner if everyone would just wear a mask, wash
hands frequently, social distance and stay home as much as possible.
