We finished the slat wall today. Rolled the laminated MDF out of the shop on a big work table and routered the snot out of it. When we're fresh, we'll hang it. Cindy Hamilton |

My bigger concern at the time was the idiocy of the membership. People were getting big raises back then. Our union was pushing for a 12% raise. The company had offered 11.5%. I asked a guy why he wanted to go out on strike. He said he was striking for 12%. I told him he would be striking for .5%. Nope. He was adamant that it was 12%. I tried to explain the difference between 11.5 % and 12 % but he could not be persuaded. We ended up accepting the contract, but only by a narrow margin. I had been worried. It was a summer job for me and it paid close to 3 times as much as the part time job I had left it for. |

I know of a small company where a senior worker was getting 10 weeks vacation. He wanted 12 weeks so got everyone riled up and a strike. The owner sold the business and the new owner gives them 2 weeks. |
