Same here, 400 some messages. Almost half of them were "Dave smith". I
filtered by name, marked all read, and quickly flipped through them to
mark the real Dave Smith posts as "not read". That takes at least 15
minutes, but it brought the number down by at least 180, which makes the
group a lot more tolerable to read, rather than just skim in general.

>Thanks. I have no choice and I'm sort of glad. I'm a thrift store guy, have been since I was a kid. But I wear $25 wool socks because I take a lot of walks, although not as many as I should anymore. I don't see myself as cheap or even frugal. I can't stand people who waste time trying to save money - like paying to take a seminar on how to save money. LOL. I am as materialistic as the next guy, I'm just not going to work for it. One of my many mottos in life is "I want to hit the lottery but I don't want to buy the ticket." So I am not putting down people who want to own more things. But I will say in general that people don't need as much as they think.

That's right Cindy, public housing for people over 62 who meet the requirements. It's a nice place. I feel very lucky to have it. I worked most of my life - and hated it - so now at age 74 and getting older by the day, must I apologize or hang my head in shame because I'm living in a public housing place? I am proud of the road I took in life, most of it unplanned. I look back on everything including even the most negative and see it as a part of what went into making me what I am today - someone who is just basically sort of content with where he's at. I wouldn't trade places with anybody. But if I hit the big lottery I might get another place. Other than that not much would change.

It's a strange combination of rednecks and hippies. I think it's about
10-35% of the population, depending on the country.

I just remember seeing those reports and how they always ended with the seatbelt report. These new COVID cases remind me of those reports, how they seem to talk only of those who have not taken the shot, as if they somehow are to blame for the virus. I say get it and die or get it and get well. To each their own. I hope. I do not believe everything I read in the papers and in fact have been pretty much avoiding the front page for years. I'll scan it but that's about it. It's mostly bullshit. The sports and puzzles sections are the most honest and reliable. Toss that front page.
