I don't think that I've seen a mark down bin for meat at my store
either. Occasionally some have a $3 (or whatever) off sticker, sitting
on top of the pile, which means they are up for "sell by" very soon.

$2 steak strips sound fine for braising or making stock/soup out of.

What is DIY? Isn't it "do it yourself"........? What makes you think I don't do things myself (if that's what you're thinking). Is there another meaning for DIY?

Just that renters don't have to constantly renovate their home.

I did call once for one of the cars. I pushed the 56 Chevy into a swamp in Florida when it blew a rod. I was driving when it happened. I was with some other guys from PA, in our late teens, early 20s. We got out and started hitchhiking, heading for a week in Miami Beach. Cops arrested us for vagrancy - 3 days or $25, standard operating procedure in that part of the world is those days. Another time in Miami Beach behind the wheel of my 48 Plymouth I got stopped by the cops due to having out of state plates (and being young I suppose). I had money in pocket and a hotel room in Miami with the key in my pocket but they still arrested me on one of many 'statutes' of vagrancy, one I remember to this day: "Wandering and strolling without legal intent or purpose." Three days or $25 - again. I paid. I have a ton of stories about that era, all true. Anyway, about not junking my cars that sat on the street, I knew the problem was not major, but knowing nothing about mechanics and lacking funds I was basically trying to buy time hoping someone with mechanical knowledge might come along and help me out. The good part was I never needed those cars. I never revolved my life around needing a car even though I drove a cab for 33 years. My ex customers, if they haven't been exed out of life yet, should all get together and buy me a good used one. I deserve it.

I remember years ago hearing a standup comic say, "I'm all for progress - but it's gone too far." Today's luxury is tomorrow's necessity.

I replied to this in the other thread where you mentioned it. To recap,
I wouldn't move here under my own volition, but it isn't as bad as you
think, nothing like decades ago. Regardless, I'm trapped here for 11
more years.

I wouldn't mind bringing back the steel mill jobs. Those were darn good
paying jobs, that required no education. It's really become an
impoverished area since Crucible steel went under, and the potteries
went right along with it.

You have to travel for work now. Pittsburgh has picked back up since
their mills closed. I have hundreds, maybe thousands, of dusty old
pieces of pottery that were made locally, as a testament to what once
was our booming industry.

Hmm, I thought Alex's only shtick was to comment on John's posts. That
is a development. Either way, I wouldn't have seen him calling you an
old lady, had you not of quoted him.

Some fundamentalist Christians use that approach to limit Internet
access for their children. Only pre-approved sites, like the Little
House On The Prairie website, are accessible.
